Tony Bianco Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 thanks!!! Well did some research and seen that this was good on black so I said why not.. my first time ever using it. And I am impressed!!! I did all work by hand.. I'm afraid to use polisher.and if you get this stuff on plastic or rubber it doesn't turn it black.. so no taping required Meguiars makes some great products. If you ever want to try using a polisher you'll wonder why you waited so long. You should have Popeye arms pretty soon!
Tony Bianco Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 What r u guys with the black trucks using for waxes? Looks wet! Typically I use CQuartz Reload. It's a product offered by Car-Pros. More of a sealant than a wax. I haven't used a wax in a very long time.
RyanbabZ71 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Sealants are where it's at Also the wax does not give it the shine the prep does (clay, Polish, paint correct) Ryan
Truckin 55 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Black is beautiful but to high maintenance for me, one reason traded in or gave away 2012 for a Silver 2014. Picture of 2014 after a hand wash and Eagle One detail wax, Claybar with a good wax soon since weather is cool and less humid.

Aaron1085 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 How do I clay? I don't have a polisher, though a detailing friend of mine has one I can borrow. Sent from my iPhone
werked Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 How do I clay? I don't have a polisher, though a detailing friend of mine has one I can borrow. Sent from my iPhone I recommend a clay mitt from chemical guys. Very user friendly. You could go the traditional clay route but I do both and much prefer the mitt if you don't have a ton of contaminants. Sent from my Note 4
Aaron1085 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 My Iridium All Terrain Sierra is nearly new so I'm fortunate to not have many scratches just yet, I'll probably clay next spring after the winter roads hit my truck. But I have a black work car that is ... Ugh, in need of some attention. I was thinking of clay and then figuring out how a polisher works and going at it to get the scuffs and swirls out. Any specific basic product that would be good to get it as good as a "work" car can get? Sent from my iPhone
SteveBBB Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I just snapped this at the grocery parking lot after using Meguiars detail spray. It took about 10 minutes and lasts until the next wash. I just use when I'm in a hurry, but it does leave a nice shine.
Back in a Bowtie Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 after a quick wash and when i got the front windows done metallic shines real well. I use Meguiars NXT wax 2.0 4 times a year (2 full details). And wash regularly with Meguiars Ultimate wash + wax, followed by Surf City Garage speed demon wax detailer.
GMC207 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I'm gonna have to try out a sealer. Last time I waxed I used a Meguiars Liquid Wax I found at walmart.

Sent from my iPhone There is a ton of stuff out there and you'll probably get a different answer from everyone. If you just want something easy to get your hands instead if ordering online I'd grab some nxt 2.0....great on black. Like someone else said in this thread....prep is key so a good clay ing would really make the outcome much better. The NXT will help hide some swirls. If you have time to wait and want to order something online that is very affordable grab some nattys blue and some klasse aio. Wash, clay, klasse aio, a good sealant (I like opticoat) and a couple coats of nattys blue. If you want to get into machine polishing....I use a PC 7424 with LC pads and poorboys ssr line. Not hard to do....I'm sure you'd do fine. Sent from my Note 4
Tony Bianco Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I also would recommend a Nanoskin or mitt for the clay work. With traditional clay if you drop it most times you're going to want to toss it as you don't want to risk it picking up any debris. I'd hate to scratch the paint! YIKES! With the mitt/Nanoskin you simply rinse or wipe it off and you're good to go.
