LED's, Replacing ALL??

Recommended Posts

I have seen several posts of LED lights and really been impressed........jealous maybe. Searching online has left me with what seems to be way more options that I expected. Also shocking was the price. I was hoping to replace all of my lights, but it looks like it will be around $400. Does this sound right or am I on the wrong path?

What lights are you looking to replace with LED's?

I replaced all of my interior lights, installed floor lighting, installed bed lighting, replaced my reverse lights with projectors and it's didn't cost anywhere near $400.

its dependant on the quality of LED your getting, I've got philips 6000k lights ( they aint cheap tho!) in my 5 interior lights, bout 80$ Added blue LEDS/Wiring in the Bose speaker grills for 10$. Cargo light I got the larger phillips wedge bulbs 50$ Reverse lights (get good ones cause there really useful backing up in the dark!) vision X (3157) 6000K 50$ and same thing in the front drivers lights, Hyperion Low beam HIDs, 100W ballasts, will almost blind you! 220$ tax in if i believe, give or take 20$. then i got some light bars n other goodies. Basically with LEDs you get what you pay for, you buy em off Ebay there not gunna be bright, that being said if i was to do it again id cheap out on the interior bulbs cause my philips are way to bright!

Replacing the non blinking bulbs will not be the issue, the blinking bulbs (i.e. turn signals front and rear) these bulbs will need to be "CAN Bus compatible", if not you will need a inline resistor so the computer will know that the bulb is there.

Personally, I would not waste my money on them.

Agreed, pretty much anything thats colour already , blinkers, red tail lights etc... isn't really worth it to just replace for LEDs just because. wait tell they burn out or something cause its not a huge difference.

Sorry for the late reply. I didn't get notified of posts, probably my fault.

I was thinking of headlights low and highs, fog lights, running lights if different, interior lights, tag lights, reverse lights, cargo light, and even rear tail/brake lights.

Maybe I could start with all the fronts plus reverse and interior lights. Those will actually be the most help to me I feel like. Quality??? I don't need any particular brand as long as they work.

Thanks for the replies. I will do some more searching based on your opinions and see what I come up with.

Might convert to LEDs, high , low beam and fog. More light out put is what I'm after.

Looking for plug and play. No mods of any type.

Suggestions please. :happysad:

$400 for headlights, or everything? I'd expect you should be able to get LED headlight and fog bulbs, and tail light housings for $400 total.

I started with LED headlights in my Denali, but one crapped out after a year, so I switched to HIDs. My personal opinion is that aftermarket LED headlights aren't yet the equal of HID lights.

After much searching online, I found a nice pair of LED tails on Fleabay, with load resistors already wired in, and I topped them off with LED backup bulbs. The backup lights are just stupid-bright (a nice feature when my teenage daughter remote unlocks at night), and the tails are also significantly brighter than the stock incandescent bulbs. I chuckle now when I'm stopped at a light at night; I can see the face of the driver behind me lit up in bright red.

I also added the tow mirrors, and they have LED turn signals on the outboard edge, for added visibility.

I've also upgraded my Jeeps with LED headlights. The units for Wranglers seem to be more reliable than LED bulbs. I'll be switching them to LED tails soon. The Suburban also has HID headlights and LED tails and backup lights.

THESE are the tails I bought. So far, so good. I've had a similar set in my Suburban for three years now with no issues (no hyperflashing, etc)

After having done all in my truck and taken most back out what I recommend is it doing the ones that don't blink. If you do led headlights make sure you either disable the drl or install the relay for them. If you buy cheap leds they will fail quicker than a normal bulb which is why mine came back out. Also, if you end up using resistors, they get hot enough to melt through the wires, mine did, no joke. If you look it up on eBay you will find multiple kits that will cover license plate, interior, cargo etc for like 15 bucks. After that just get your bulb sizes for everything else

Get good quality. The LED tail lights I installed made my cruise control stop working. I did not use my cruise that often, so it took a long time before I found enough posts about cruise control issues and LED's that told me to put the stock tail lights back in so the cruise would work. And yes, mine came with resistors that were suppose to cure this problem. Just be careful, these resistors get very hot, and in my case did not work. I went back to a new stock looking tail lights and now my cruise works again. It took me a very long time trying to figure out what was wrong!!! This was on a 2002 Silverado. Good Luck!
