2015 silverado 1500, towing mirrors, any updates?

Hey y'all, just wondering if gm has released an extendable trailer tow mirror for the 14-15 silverado yet? I'm looking for some simple, manual extend /fold that are still power adjustable.

I know there was a thread on this awhile back, but I've not heard anything further for awhile now.

Thanks

Yes. Black (23372182) and chrome (23372181). They have cargo lights, front amber clearance lights, signals in upper glass, power upper glass, manual lower, manual fold, manual telescope and heat. Shop labor is 4.7 hours. All trucks need driver and passenger door harnesses. 2014 and 2015 (HD before AVF only) need an additional harness.

Interesting. Can you get any that don't have all the extra lights and stuff? I don't really need clearance lights, etc. My 99 superduty had simple, oem extendable trailer tow mirrors on it. No extra lights or anything on it. Manual fold and extend. What does the shop have to do besides the physical install?

Thanks

Should be able to look up the DPN mirror code, those should be plan black.

Fast search on eBay shows 22820396 and 22820395.

But confirm with your dealer before purchasing.

Your favorite dealers parts department should be able to print off a bulletin that lists what is required to convert your truck and which mirror options are available.

Old style mirror

BCM reprogram depending on the truck configuration and if you have memory functions (seats, mirrors) the module for that may or may not need to be programmed.

The cargo lights are sweet btw...and come on in reverse...

What year is your truck? Do you have power glass manual fold small mirrors or do you have the power fold power glass small mirrors?

2014 1500 gmc sle power windows. no signal no heat no power fold.

I kinda want tow mirrors with top cap I can color match and have the side marker light. If it has the white led that shines towards the back of the truck thats cool. If it costs $1000 I dont need it.

The mirrors with the removable top cap are the new tow mirrors (lights and stuff). The old tow mirrors that were available on max tow 2014 and early build 2015 HD were the same style mirrors as 2007-2013 that are a one piece housing.

Even if you don't get the door wiring and jumper harness, the new style kit runs $625.00 and a pair of the old style mirrors runs $990. You will, both styles just have power adjust and heat.

You can confirm that the chrome caps on the new style mirrors CAN be removed? I ended up ordering the all black ones ($625) because I thought the chrome capped ones were non-removable.

Sure are removable. All the screws that hold the lights in are underneath them.

Ok, i have a 15 silverado LT , currently with the standard, small mirrors.

No heat, manual fold, no signals or lights. Are these new tow mirrors able to be installed on my truck and have all the lights and such operable?

I thought i read at some point the chevy tow mirrors had 4 mounting studs and my factory mirrors only have 3? Do the new ones have only 3?

How stable are they extended at highway speeds?

Are there any aftermarket mirrors out there that do not have all the signals and stuff that would just be power adjust that would be plug and play with my 15?

The lights and stuff are cool, but i don't really need them.

What is the appropriate cost of this conversation, parts and labor if i go with the new Chevy tow Mirrors? I'm scared to ask! Lol

Thanks for the help,

G

Stable as hell. The glass doesn't shake like the old style tow mirror from last gen. All trucks except those built in Flint need to have the 4th hole drilled out to mount the mirrors.

Aftermarket may have some out there. The only thing that may or may not work is the turn signals if equipped in the aftermarket mirror. You will have power and heat (if equipped) assuming you have the DL8 mirror.

Doing the GM way, the black kit is $625, both door harnesses are $250 (needed for full operation of the mirrors). GM books the labor at 4.7 hours (which is overkill because you can do them in about 2-2.5 hours). Labor should/would be at the dealer's accessory labor rate ($70/hr where I work). So, around $1204 installed (again, using the accessory rate we charge). The parts can be had for less if you do yourself (gm parts websites or a local dealer's parts dept. that will work with you on it a some).
