2015 Sierra Tire question....

Hey all, first post, long time reader, but never owned. Just got a 2015 Sierra 1500 All-Terrain which I love. I'd like to put some new tires on it and get rid of these junk wrangler RSA's. My question is, without doing a level kit right now, would a 275/60/20 on a stock rim fit without rubbing alot? I eventually will get a level kit, but found a pretty nice deal on a set of discoverer atp's that I don't want to pass up. Guy at tire shop said it may be close and they may rub at full turn. Anyone have any history with that size tire without leveling or lifting? Thanks and look forward to posting pics as I mod my truck here and there.

If you read through most of the threads on here, a 275/60R20 fits without a level and without rubbing at all. I am looking to put some BFG KO2 in that size on my truck. I don't have the time to level now, but I also plan to in the future.

Just a thought but you can get the 2" level kit from Rough County for $50 right now on sale.

You can install it in your driveway in a few hours or I'm sure a shop won't charge that much to install it. I'd say you could have it leveled for less then $200 (parts and install).

Didn't know the level kit was on sale. Just picked one up. Going to give this install a shot......can't imagine it will go as planned. I am not a mechanic, changing my oil is enough trouble for me......can only imagine how this install will go.

I got rid of the stock sr-a's 3 days ago. I'm running BF Goodrich 265/70/18 on a 15 Silverado. I wanted to run the largest possible tire also without a levelling kit. I really wanted a 275/70/18 but I found out they would rub a little. You will have to zip tie the wheel liner back. I still would of bought them but i went to 3 gm dealers and they told me if I installs any tire over 3% larger in diameter my front end warranty would be voided. I managed to convince them to let me go to 3.3% larger without doing that.

Installed 275/60/20 Cooper Discoverers ATP today. Stock suspension...very slight rub at full lock but really not all that bad. Would definitely look better with level/lift but amazing how much better going to the 60's over 55's look.

I got them a couple weeks ago too in that size. Great tire. Best part was Discount tire gave me 100 per old crappy sra's!!! Cant pass that up! I ran the ATP's for a week without lift. I just put on the Icon coilovers which raised me ~2.5", and the ride is so much better (I used to have the crappy rancho suspension, no comparison).

They blew some smoke up your a$$... just because you tire is 3% larger than stock does not mean they can just flat out void your warranty when it comes to front end parts. They have to prove that the larger tires caused the issue. The size of the tire does not affect your front end at all other than the fact that MAYBE it puts a little more strain on your EPS when you turn the wheels while the truck is stationary.

EDIT: When you have some time, you should look up the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Didn't know the level kit was on sale. Just picked one up. Going to give this install a shot......can't imagine it will go as planned. I am not a mechanic, changing my oil is enough trouble for me......can only imagine how this install will go.

What worked for me was this. Loosen sway bar end link but don't remove. Loosen the three nuts on top of strut but don't remove. Remove two bolts at bottom of strut. Install spacer and tighten everything up. Doing it this way took me 20 minutes on the passenger side. Drivers side I messed with upper ball joint removed sway bar end link and nothing worked until I loosened those top nuts. Wasted 40 minutes on that side.

Don't follow the Rough Country directions. They have you pulling the whole front end apart. Also you will need to get an alignment done. Mine was way off and I could feel it in how the truck drove before the alignment.

FWIW I picked up a set of machined aluminum spacers with grade 10.8 hardware made in the USA from a seller on eBay for $26.99 shipped.
