About to install AMP Powersteps....any tips or pointers?

Lucky you, I want Amps but I have a 3" body lift and was told by Amp that the rail would hit the body mount, a shop told me that they can cut off the body mount and move it up higher so the the rail would not hit the body mount, that would cost more moving the body mount then the amps them selves

Tremendous upgrade. They have also held up to cold, ice, winter road mung.

 

Another install tip, suggest loosely mounting arms to underside of rocker panels, then loosely thread on running boards to arms, then tighten nuts starting with topside arm nuts downward. Also helped to have the truck up on ramps/blocks if you otherwise don't have a lift.

Clint, im pretty sure u would need amp research to make an escalator step system for your truck lol

Yea no doubt. Hey at least you can stay in shape doing pull ups on the steps you have now!

I just installed mine today and I DIDN'Tdo the plug n play. I hard wired mine in to all 4 doors! All I can say is WOW. It took me about 5 hours. And I work on cars everyday. Getting the wires pulled through the doors and getting the door panels pulled off! Half way through it I was wishing I never had bought them. I hope I change my mind after getting to use them!

Just installed these. Do yourself a favor, give AMP your money and order the plug and play kit. With this kit it takes longer to zip tie wires up than running the wires. Install is pretty easy, just follow the directions and you are good to go! I ordered the LED lights suggested on page 1 off eBay. They are a must have! Wiring is easy and they stick well.

Installed the AMP plug and play. Expensive but worth it for bad knees and old age.

And short wives :)

Do you have any pics of them with the lights off, where u can see the actual light install? Im looking to do something like this on my oem running board setup

I have OEM boards and was wanting to add some lights, but I can't find a good place to get the wires into the cab. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks.

There's a grommet underneath the carpet just below the driver's side left leg. Parking brake is threaded through it, but I've run both Amp Step and Pop&Lock wiring through it as well.

anyone know what that wire is that goes through the grommet? its not the parking brake as that continues past on the frame rail and enters somewhere in the wheel well

Ordered and they came in early. I plan on installing these in the morning. With the "updated" LEDs of course. So not a fan of that purple stuff.

      Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.

      I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.

      2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!

      I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
