Stupid question...how many besides me would have ordered a manual transmission if it were offered?

 

I'm disappointed you cannot get a triple-pedal in any full-size trucks.

ya me to, I cant tell you how many times I jamed the break peddle thinking it was the clutch!

No actual demand or sales. Everyone says "oh I'd love a manual!" and then they don't buy. Heck even the take rate on performance cars is low however there is market and enough demand to make them.

Yeah I can understand what you're saying, a lot of car companies are getting rid of it just because lack of demand

It's weird in my 2016 owners Manual it has a few sections that talk about standard transmission operation

it is probably available in other parts of the world.

I agree on the lack of demand. In this day and age, sticks are only popular with muscle cars.

In terms of a pickup, I would only want a stick if I were buying a 6.2L with the intention of building a beast with a super charger, long tube headers, etc.

but it would be slower and more inconsistent vs an automatic. for me a manual would just be more engaging and fun to drive. my first few trucks were scsb 5.7 5 speed and i loved them.

When it comes to any muscle car/truck, I want a stick so that I have full control of the shifts. I would only consider an automatic for a straight line 1/4 mile race vehicle.

I saw this post while browsing and decided to join the forum. I'm definitely a stick shift Chevy/GMC guy, having owned a number of SWB stick shift models 1973-2004. First, a 2015 5 spd SWB Silverado is still produced by Chevrolet, Mexico. It comes well equipped for serious stuff - 265/70x17 load range C tires, a 4.10 rear end, but is 2wd only. I'm in Brownsville, Texas - they are sold right across the Rio Grande in Matamoros and Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. No way I'm going over there to buy one! Even if one could import it, there is the little problem with warranty. It would have to be serviced in Mexico and shiny new pickups attract a lot of attention. OK, it's made in Mexico in the same plant that the ones for delivery to the U.S. I don't know why GM can't distribute the model here, as they already produce it.

 

Second, my car bio. Currently I drive a 2015 4 door Wrangler auto, but I'm very seriously buying some kind of used 1993 to 1998 Chevy/GMC SWB 5 spd. for daily driver and save the Jeep for off-road. But I'm a little intimidated by all the things that can go wrong on an older vehicle. FWIW I'm 70 years old, retired, and can't invest a lot of time into fixing things. But I do miss my stick shift Chevies. I hate driving the automatics, and I'm talking about highways and city traffic. I want to control the engine, not the other way around!

I think Dodge and Ford is the only trucks making manuals in brand new trucks but only in the 2500 series though. No half tons

      Transmission Woes :-(

      Hello All!   My 2019 Colorado 3.6 LT, 4WD Crew Cab has approximately 77,500 miles and I recently began experiencing the well-known transmission shudder between about 30 and 65 mph. The problem had worsened to the point that I could no longer attribute it to road conditions - and I had decided to bring the truck to the dealer - when recently, I experienced a sudden loss of power while driving at maybe 40 MPH. Several warning lights flashed, the “Check Stabilitrack” message appeared, and the Check Engine, Stabilitrack, and Traction Control icons remained illuminated. The truck regained driving power, but it stayed in a low gear with unusually high RPMs for the speed. (limp mode?) Because I was only about two miles from home, driving slowly, I was able to make it back and run an OBD-II scan, which showed fault codes U0101, P0700, and U0100. My next trip in the truck was to drive it to the dealer the following day. That trip began normally, but after about a mile I experienced another loss of power, along with the same warning lights and the same “Check Stabilitrack” message. As before the truck remained driveable, but again operated at an abnormally high RPM-to-speed ratio and seemed stuck in a single gear. About a mile later, the dashboard lit up once more, this time displaying “Check 4WD.” Soon after that, I arrived at the dealer. I have verified that the truck still has its original factory transmission fluid, which means it has never received the corrective fluid exchange outlined in GM Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355.  That was Thursday of last week and I've heard nothing yet from the dealer.    According to Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355 and the build date of my truck, my truck should have the newer LV fluid. I've done a little research and read something about a problem with the wiring harness as well.   Anyone have an insights into this situation?  Thank you!!

      Did you even read this article?   Even the title of the article says "U.S.-Iran Deal Doesn’t Mean a Swift Return of Oil and Gas Flows"   Remember, crude oil prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the oil companies.  Gas prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the station.  This article stated that many of the oil producing nations have to restart their processes to get the oil produced.  Then the oil has to be shipped to wherever.  And it doesn't get there overnight.  And most of that oil is not coming here. Check out this site:  https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10621   A graph will pop up to show where the US imports their oil from.  Notice that there isn't a lot of import from OPEC and Iraq.  Most of the US import comes from Canada. The US oil produces are selling their oil on the open market, which is why the US fuel costs went up.  So you're correct, the US oil companies are going to slow walk the price downward.
