Sounds like a rotating part to me. But like it was suggested u need to be under the truck to pin point. Once you are close to it use a long screwdriver to ur ear to confirm

Wow I was going to mention that but I thought somebody would of called me wierd for saying something like that.. glad I'm not the only one who does that..

Old boys have been making their own since forever and they had to do it on the cheap. Besides, why run to the store when you have a toolbox full of screwdrivers. Penny saved and all that

Lay under the truck and fire it up with the fob. Should be able to pinpoint it quite quickly at that point. I have had to do this a few times over the years lol.

All good info, i will get under there this weekend. Like i said though, it only does it certain weather/temp/humidity conditions(i live back home in New Orleans)

Tell you what, im gonna be a pissed off SOB if this is not related to the catback and has something to do internally with truck....gonna trade this mofo in! Already been dealing with the seat AND vibration issue.

My buddies 04 was doing that exact sharp rap noise for the longest time and it was a baffle loose in the trucks stock muffler. It's something loose or touching somewhere lol.

Got around to contacting Borla about this, sent them a video etc and they are sending me a new catback!

The Gentleman who helped me (Steve) was VERY knowledgeable. He said in his 50 yrs experience racing NHRA, hes never heard a sound like that...even showed a few people in the office, and they had no clue.

You said it only makes this noise when using the key fob? That has nothing to do with the exhaust. The only system this may affect is the starting and HVAC. If you are worried about warranty with your cat back, which you shouldn't be, you need to set the parking brake, double check to make sure your truck is in park, and get under it and start it with the fob. As mentioned before, I would look at the starter, heat shields and A/C compressor.

My best guess, the starter is not fully retracting the Bendix and the teeth are momentarily touching the flywheel immediately after the engine starts. This will create a "bicycle ringer" type of sound. I bet it is making the same sound when started with the key, but you just don't hear it. Get right up close to the right front wheel and I am pretty sure you will hear the sound very clearly coming from the area of the starter or back of the engine.

i think i might be having same issue with mine , curious to see if this fixes it. im thinking on mine it might be the spring / bolt set up near the cat , don't really understand what this even does .

If it doesn't end up being the catback? Can I have your old one? Perhaps for a small fee and shipping cost?:lol::flag:

Lol^^Borla wants me to send in the old one, but i dont see how they can force me/charge me. Im just happy to get another one to see if it really is the cat back making the noise or something with the truck. Will find out soon.
