Speed Limiter

In much of the west the Interstate speeds have been raised to 80 mph. I understand there is a section in Texas where 85 is being 'tested'.

Not sure about it being tested still. We have had it for a few years now. It is wonderful!!

Yeah that 85MPH is in austin/round rock. toll 130. So to only be able to go 10 over and get hit by the speed limiter is crappy. A cop will probably laugh and say, "HAHA! He can't go more than 10 over the speed limit!" They can't even ticket me.

Was on the freeway the other day and mine stopped accelerating at 98 as well. I was trying to pass others and didn't notice I was going 90, so I understand how that goes. When I noticed I was going 90 I just decided to see how fast I could get it. Like I said, stopped accelerating at 98.

I don't know, I've had my 2015 Silverado 5.3 over 100 (104-106? and it's bone stock w 4400 miles on it.....

I remembered reading something to the effect that a 6.2 with the 6 spd would go 110/112 but 6.2 with 8 spd stops at 98ish.

Wow really so you can go faster on a 6 speed than 8?

So I guess I'm to assume that there's really no rhyme or reason as to why some 6.2L, 8 speed trucks exceed the 98 mph cutoff and some don't.

There probably is some combination of options and/or build dates that changes where the limiter gets set -- but it hasn't been sorted out here yet.

Yep, it's very easy to go over 90 when passing on SH130 with 85MPH as the "limit". I set the speed alarm at 95, just as a reminder to slow down haha.

My 2014 6.2 with the six-speed and a .373 rear end tops out at between 95 and 100.

My double cab with this configuration is 92.

My 2014 5.3 6 speed cuts off at 112mph. After looking, my tires are S rated which validates what the others are saying.

Because a 6,000 lb vehicle w/ a huge wheelbase, near 10,000 lb tow rating w/ leaf springs, no weight in the back, junk all terrain or all season SUV/truck tires, steering about as tight as a U-boat, shouldn't be traveling at that rate of speed let alone any higher.

I think 80-85 is about as fast as you'd ever need these trucks to go, and even then they're not anywhere near as stable/safe at that speed as even most of the cheap econoboxes on the road these days.

God forbid you need to do a panic maneuver/stop anywhere south of 80+ in one of these trucks, wouldn't be pretty.
