Short or Stub Antenna anyone?

Recommended Posts

I installed a stuby antenna and it looks great but has horrible reception unless I am away from all the hills on flat land. I am in the bay area though so lots of hills around me. http://www.autozone.com/antenna-cables-and-masts/antenna/metra-electronics-stock-euro-style-roof-mount-antenna/454911_0_0/?checkfit=true

I've been wanting to get a shorter antenna as well, as the 31" factory antenna is a bit tall. From all the reviews I've read, it appears that reception starts to diminish with lengths below 14", but the area you drive in will always matter of course.

I also use XM Radio 99% of the time, but I still like the idea of having use of the radio if I ever need it.

I've got the "Stubby" on my truck. Don't listen to the radio ever, but have tested it, and found no reduction in reception. I prefer the look of the "Stubby" FAR more than the long, goofy looking stock antenna! Rick
