2015 Yukon Denali Buffetting Issue

Hello, I just recently test drove a 2015 Yukon Denali XL.

When I came back from the test drive my ears hurt and I had a headache.

During the test drive, there was this constant "thumping" kind of sound like pressure was building up in my head.

Upon researching some forums and complaints, I come to find out that the truck has issues such as this.

Can a GM technician please tell me if this has been corrected on the 2016? Is there a fix for the 2015?

I would like to know before I purchase an almost $80k vehicle.

Thank you in advance.

I've found that anything built after the early '00's does this if I have a window open a crack. It's a loud, deep, bassy, buffeting sound that will drive you nuts. None of my older cars do it, but my Silverado does. My mom has a little econobox Honda that does the same thing (in addition to feeling every single imperfection in the road ... and in MA, there's LOTS of that ...).

I wouldn't count on anything like that being fixed. I'd bet money on it.

My 2010 Sierra extended cab creates a sound in the interior like there is a helecopter in the cab of the truck that starts at 40mph when the rear windows are open. If I crack a front window open about an inch the chop-chop noise stops. My 2000 Grand Prix also did this. Real annoying when all I want to do is have a window open when on the highway and still be able to carry on a conversation with a passenger sitting next to me. Given it has been at least 15 years since I first noticed it, I would agree with Jsdirt's comment about it being near normal now.

I would see if there was a 2016 model available somewhere that I could drive. Does not need to be the same trim level, or even the same configuration, just needs to be same model. Take it out and see if you can make the noise stop by trying various window positions. You don't say if the salesman went with you on the test ride, if he did not, take another test ride and this time take the sales man. If the noise happens again, point it out to the salesman and see what he has to say. I would not mention this noise to the salesman prior to the test drive, make it appear like you just noticed it. That would be the best way to get a honest reaction from the salesman.
