Drill-less Gatorbacks

To start this off, I know this isn't going to be everybody's cup of tea. To be honest I'm not a fan of anything gaudy or shiny, my Corvette build has zero chrome in the engine bay. That being said I got something a little shiny for my truck....

I decided to get mudflaps early on to protect my trucks paint and side steps. Not only does the side of my truck get peppered by sand, rocks, and other road debris, the harsh New England winters add in salt and during a storm mounds of snow, slush and ice on my side steps. So, mud flaps really were a necessity. I looked at the GM, weathertech, and husky products, but none of them really seemed worthwhile as they offered little actual protection. I came across the Gatorbacks and loved how high quality they looked and how much coverage they offered. The only problem was they required a LOT of drilling into the body. Luckily, while looking I came across a drill-less version of them. They are 100% stainless steel with a very heavy duty weighted rubber flap. The installation was very easy. They offer them in either the polished stainless I got, or powdercoated black. As I said, I'm not a big fan of shiny, but I thought about it and decided that the black would probably end up looking bad over time.

In the end I'm pretty happy with the look and am very happy with the protection. I actually think the polished stainless goes good with ruby red metallic paint. It also seems to compliment the chrome LTZ door trim and chrome bumpers.

Anyways, on to the pictures.

Pics?

I like the Weathertechs I put on my LTZ.

The no drill design feels like it is on there to stay, and the flaps have been doing a good job of keeping the splashes off the sides and step bars.

We just had a rainy weekend and the sides look clean.

Granted it was just water, I didn't drive through mud.

Yeah where you live I think protection like that is necessary.

We're going up to the snow this weekend, I'll see how mine do in the same stuff.

Wow, that's lots of chrome for mudflaps. I bought a set of oversized DuraFlaps that require poking a hole through the rear fender liners (but nothing through sheetmetal). The rest of the installation is bolt-on deal. The set was first mounted to my '15 Sierra 1500 SLE and then transferred to my '16 SLT.
