I apparently have two recalls on my truck. No word from GM yet but the hitch and steering are both under the recall program. I heard about the steering at the dealer when my wife's car (2012 Cruze) was getting an oil change. I do my own oil changes, my wife prefers to use the dealer cause it's convenient for her when she's at work. I heard about the hitch on here. Any way I've owned the truck since July last year and haven't heard a peep from GM. Anyone else seem to have this issue?

In some situations, like the early one for remote start fire recall and the rear slider recall, I heard from GM via email and snail mail. With the others, my service manager told me about them when I went in for an oil change. Also, some of them showed up with the monthly OnStar report. The trailer hitch platform now showed up in my monthly OnStar report and at my.chevrolet.com. The problem I have with these notices is that they are inconsistent in how they notify us and how they respond, partly due to parts availability, as I understand it.

 

My Dad has a Pontiac G6 and takes it to the dealer for oil changes and usually finds out more by talking to the service writer than anything else. They've had several recalls too, but they check his VIN and take care of it for him. The only notice he got was about the steering rack that could lock up.

Dont trust the GM website. I have checked mine once a month since I got the truck and I took it to get an inspection because I was in the neighborhood and turns out I had 2 recalls. The transfer case staying engaged in 4WD in cold weather and something about a loose brake line.

 

The Tcase reprogram also helps the transmission so i was excited when they said they were going to do it....my GOD what a difference, the truck doesn't die when accelerating off a turn and shift into 2nd when you get on it and bog to death, Now it holds 1st like it should, hated having to always drive around in tow/haul so it could shif like I wanted it to.

 

I never noticed the Tcase locking in 4WD when I was in North Dakota. I just got to Texas a week ago and had been up there for over a year.

 

 

I got grumpy because it took them 5hrs to do everything and I had no spare trucks at the house. Dealer dropped me off and picked me up but being locked in at home alone is not my idea of a vacation lol

I have been driving a full size truck for over 20 years but found I actually like driving around in that little car, except for trying to get in and out of it. 4 cyl cars have come along way, that thing had some serious pep to it.

I found out about the rear brake line torque recall when I went in to have the HVAC software updated (changed calibration to work like previous and later versions where the remote start works properly). It takes 5 minutes to re-torque the brake line, but this one never showed up on my VIN - service manager saw it in his system when he put in the VIN...go figure...that's why I think the way they manage these recalls is "inconsistent"...but perhaps they are different priority? And it seems they never have the parts when the recall is announced...

If I'm not mistaken, neither of these are actual "recalls," removing GM's requirement to notify you.

If these aren't recalls what are they? Maybe there isn't any recalls and everybody is just griping about issues they don't have?

I went into my dealer the other day, and they used the term recall for my Reese hitch. They said my truck will have to wait until gm sends the new hitches out, because they can't order a new one due to allocation demands.

It also shows up now online at my dealer service portal when I attempt to set up a service appointment...

I see I am not the only one with a defective steering wheel. Mine has a dent all they around at about the 11:00 position that I am asking to be replaced first time it goes in.

My dealer in a pinch tried that, no Acadia or enclave available, I forced there hand, ended up with a 16 all terrain on a tag lol, been shopping since just haven't got my number yet

I have a 2014 and it does run pretty good. I have the 1.4L turbo. I really like it.

If these aren't recalls what are they? Maybe there isn't any recalls and everybody is just griping about issues they don't have?

The term GM uses is "service bulletins."

Still tells the dealers to fix something wrong, but removes the legal burden of a formal recall.

 

(And removes the customer notification.)
