2007 steering column clunk...?

Have had a minor clunk in the steering column since I purchased this truck in February (79k miles) and having zero experience with these trucks, I was/am unsure as to what is "normal".

Had my mechanic remove the front leveling kit and install Bilstein 4600-series shocks all around and the clunk is greatly reduced (was hoping it was a bad shock since they were original) but it's still there...slightly.

Idler and Pittman check out fine as does the stabilizer system so he's wondering if the steering intermediate shaft that was an issue in the earlier models was resolved by 2007?

Any other clues as to what to look for...?

Thanks in advance guys...

Here is the fix. This noise doesnt cause any issues, other than the noise though..

Upper intermediate steering shaft is required. Ebay has them for 50 bucks free shipping.

The problem was up to and including 2007 models.

There is also a replacement made by Boargeson. Summit Racing sells them. They're pricey at over $200, but I've heard they're worth it.

Again...appreciate it.

I know on the 2003 25HD if you unbolt the intermediate steering shaft and slide it up and down (the one that goes into the cab) it will redristribute the grease and quiet the clunk. Make sure the steering wheel doesn't spin. I found if you put the seat belt through the bottom hole of the steering wheel and buckle it it won't let it spin. I am not sure if it is the same on an 07, but you could always look. Hope that helps.

Spoke to my tech today and we ordered up the GM part, cost is $100 but supposedly is a new design...felt it was worth it to me to stay all-GM for just $50 more.

Front end alignment appointment for 9am tomorrow...

On the Dodges, guys drilled and tapped the shaft for a zerk so they could periodically shoot some grease in there. Might be something to consider.
