2500HD trailer tow capacity

I have a 2015 2500hd it said it is rated to tow 13K lbs I see that the 2016's can tow 1,500 lbs more all this with th 6.0 gas engine . so I was just wondering what they did to improve this because i looked threw spec to spec and everything seams the same hp and torque ,gearing.

According to another site I frequent, GM recently conformed to the national towing standard, SAE J2807, which ultimately raised their rating slightly.

Mine is 13000 for hitch, 14000 fifth wheel

Mine is the same on the hitch i thought the 5th wheel was like 14500 but like he was saying above I think that is why now the 16's can tow more all of a sudden with no physical changes or engine hp increases

Depends on which cab and box and if 2wd or 4wd and also which engine.
