Question for those running a 6" BDS lift.

Looking for feedback from folks that have been running the 6" BDS lift for a while.

How do you like it?

Does it still feel solid?

Would you do anything different?

 

My truck is going in in 3 weeks for the 6" BDS lift with fox coil over upgrade and the glide-ride rear spring packs. My concern is I'm hoping my truck doesn't become a rattle box a year or two down the road.

I have had the BDS lift since August and will say it is solid as a rock. Zero issues zero complaints. Will say keep in mind the rear springs will stiffen up you ride quality quite a bit if your not towing under a load it may be a little rough( stiff).

I will say if I had the chance to rewind and be able to choose to do it or not, I would waste very little time doing it again.

I only tow a small utility trailer on occasion and I do a lot of highway miles so I want a softer ride.

So you think the new spring packs will be a stiffer ride than going with a larger block? I thought the bigger block in back would be stiffer but I very possibly could be wrong. This is my first truck so I definitely have a learning curve with these mods. Lol

I also have the 6" BDS with the Add A Leaf and love it. The only downfall for me was that I wanted to go with 20x12 wheels and the 6" wouldn't clear them. I added a 1.5" Zone Body Lift & it all worked out.

 

I thought about going with the leaf spring pack also but eventually decided on the AAL instead & it was exactly what I hoped for.

I have just the rear lift block with stock springs and it rides the same as it did stock. The replacement leaf springs are stiffer to help with bed drop caused by carrying a load. If a person with the replacement springs carried a load and I carried the same load his truck wouldn't sag down in the back like mine would. As far as overall drivability they are the same though to include "axle wrap" which all rear wheel drive vehicles have to an extent.

To be honest I didn't adjust my headlights and can see way better than I could at stock height. I may be the jerk who's lights are pointing high but I can see better so I am a bit selfish.

I want to say none. My truck honestly drives exactly the same as it did stock, now I just sit higher.

How much was your BDS kit + install if you don't mind me asking? Wondering how much $$$ I need to save. Was any cutting involved? Thanks!

There is absolutly cutting involved in all the lifts. But nothing that can't be un-done(have no idea what would cause a person to do that though). As far as my cost goes, I shopped around and picked up the parts from different places to save myself money. I bought the 6" lift from a place called RockRidge4x4 and shipped to the door with upgrade to the Fox shocks for $1,956.57. I got the tires from thee local Firestone shop for $1,200, and the wheel spacers from TrailSport4x4 for $69.00. Then I made a deal with the local off road shop to trade my old parts and tires for a discounted installation price and settled on $600.00 including mount and balance and allignment. All together I spent $3,825.57.

I have the BDS 6in coil over kit with the BDS leaf springs and they ride great and are not at all stiff. The fox shocks are firmer than stock shocks plus the 35in tires stiffen the ride a little. I drove first day with lift installed on stock tires and the lift kit rides so much nicer and smoother than stock. Once the tires went on the ride was stiffer for sure but not terrible once I got the psi right. I had a lot of issues with trac control and stabilitrac coming on in turns but finally found a place that knows what they are doing with aligning lifted truck and also measured the rolling diameter of the tire on the balancing machine to set the speedo dead on. You need to adjust the speedo for bigger tires or you can have premature trac control engagement. Since they fixed alignment and rolling tire diameter to 33.5 instead of 35 I love my truck now. No regrets just have a good shop install and knows how to align lifted trucks.

Also I tow a 4000lb boat and there is only 1/2 in of sag with BDS springs. My truck stock had max tow nht package with stiffer springs and they only sagged 1/2.

Also looking at running this kit, will I be able to clear a 35" tire or would a body lift be needed? Also any trimming and cutting to avoid rubbing issues ?

I have 35x12.5s on stock 20inch wheels no trimming and no rubbing. Mine is the coilover 6in kit I lowered the front coilovers an inch so I would have 2inches of rake. So Im at 5in of lift in front. Bds shows their 4ich lift will fit 35s.
