Got this code on my 14 Silverado today. Auto parts store is saying its a cold start/rough idle code. Anyone shed some light on this for me??? Thanks in advance. Truck has 34000 miles on it

P050D is Cold Start Rough Idle. Could be from a bad batch of fuel, or there may be an injector with an issue.

Ok thanks. I just filled up yesterday so that kinda makes sense about the bad fuel. I appreciate your help!

Can I clear it or would the dealership have to do it?

You should let the dealership do it, I am seeing a few cases of this code now that all leads up to injectors unable to provide enough pressure

I got the P050D code last week. I brought the truck in on Tuesday and got it back yesterday (Thursday). The Technician also spotted a leaky radiator so that was changed along with the fuel injector for the #3 cylinder. While the Technician did a great job, I can't say anything remotely like that for the rest of the service department as my experience with them was completely unacceptable.......

The odd thing about the P050D code with my truck is that when it was seeing this code my transmission was shift up and down with very hard shifts.

My 2014 high country is throwing this code now. and the trans is downshifting really hard. Is it a fuel injector problem? is there any way to tell which injector to swap out?

Hello Cbrown85,

We certainly don’t like hearing about this cold start concern. If you’d like, we’d be more than happy to touch base with your preferred dealer in regards to this engine code. If this is something we can do for you, please let us know via private message.

I know this is an old thread. My 2016 z71 is throwing this code. Would the injectors be covered under the drive train warranty? I'm at 40 k ?

Well actually I checked and I have the wrap premier warranty which is a bumper to bumper for 84 months or 125000 so I'm going to warranty it. It's covers all that shit0dff25e109f395b932a431319de1d55d.jpg

Im guessing mine is having the same problem.. P050D is popping up 87K miles old. this is frustrating because it was just misfiring on cylinder 4 a month ago with code P0300 (Random/Multiple cylinder misfire) of course took it in to the dealer i bought the truck from had it serviced and now this.. 2 codes P219 and P050D.. all in the same week that it was just serviced for P050D.. took it back to the dealer only for them to of course deny everything as the all do i imagine.. but then said they will look at it for me but it will cost me the diagnostic fee.. why would i pay that again if i already paid for the misfire issue... im loosing fait in GM to be honest. My Dad's old Tundra at 120K miles is still runing properly with all original parts yet mine is becoming a money hole... please let me know if there is any way to fix this myself.

Come On Man... You are not sorry if you don't have a solution. Telling us that you will gladly hand us names of dealers that make your company more money isn't help, it's advertising. This Seems like a Huge ongoing problem. I have seen a lot of people having this same issue and it really sucks. Mine shut off on my this morning and when I started it up the engine light came on and sure enough P050D code. So now I don't know if it is going to catch fire and blow up or what. I put a can of seafoam in it, hoping that would take care of it, but nope. Not yet! So now I am guessing I will have to take it somewhere to get told they will have to do so much more than they really will and hand over my first born. Ugh... For a truck with so little miles there has been far too many problems.

    • Even tougher is the 5.0 / 302. That's what this one has.    https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   https://postimg.cc/4n3F3yzY   Just realized I had the airbox removed in the engine pic, lol.
    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
