Hello fellow GM enthusiasts,

My name is Robert and I'm from Amsterdam and I own a 2015 gmc sierra 1500 Denali 6.2l.
Most amazing car I ever had! Just wow.
I came to this for me because I have a serious issue with my GMC since it's imported from the USA and I drive it here in Amsterdam and the Netherlands I fall into a sort of Purgatory of service since all I can fall back on to is the local dealer here and none of GMC services that they offer in the states.
And since my local dealer here is completely useless and offers almost no service except for factory guarantee if anything breaks the coming four years it will be fixed free of charge but that's not more than normal with a new car.

Since taxes are crazy in this country paid just a little over 100,000 euros for this car as you can imagine for this kind of money you would expect perfect service and everything working on the car as it should be since you're also paying for the hardware.
This comes down to the problem that I have is with the intellilink system.
I have a sort of downgraded version of the system and really outdated navigation there is no option for 4G or OnStar Services according to my dealer it is just not possible because GMC rent satellites and it's only active when it covers the states. In recent developments in Europe about 3 Months Ago Opel introduced the on Star system exactly the same here in Europe. And since opel and GM are sort of the same company, you would come to think that it would be possible for me to also enjoy these options of the intellilink system as for what I paid to own this Hardware.
No Pandora Radio no streaming options really outdated navigation, no weather icon, no onstar icon. When I press on Star button on the rear View Mirror I get Spanish Lady telling I need to setup the on Star system.
The digital dash shows the intellilink welcome movie only once every 50 car starts, and some options in the menu just don't work.
Now let me get to the really weird part my car is from 2015 official stated in my papers but I have the 6 gear transmission and not the eight Speed.

I have contacted and called,, Open chat screens with GMC engineers, because the service mindset of gmc towards their customers is amazing,, IF you live in the states. ,, as soon as I give them my Vin number, (3GTU29EJXEG5563559) that the end of the conversation.

To be honest that's not very fair towards their overseas customers. I tried my car dealer he says impossible not done will never be done and I've tried Opel, they also don't know.

Is there any way that I can get any service from GMC in the states for them to be communicating with Opel so I can at least get the OnStar 4G system working because the hardware I have is completely ready for it. Now I don't know if I'm barking up the right tree here but it would be great to hear from a GM representative here.

Thnx for listening,, a proud gmc Denali owner..

Robert

I will chime in simply for curiosity as this is probably a first for this kind of thing on these forums and hope this thread gets more attention. So at the end of the day you paid 100K euros for your truck? That is insane but with taxes as high as they are in Europe, probably not out of the norm? That is in the realm of a loaded Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, etc.

I would say to keep at this local dealer or raise this issue to GM Corporate offices if possible. I don't see why the intelilink system had to be downgraded for any reason.

I find it odd that GMC would just cut the conversation off like that.

Get in touch with Onstar as well, there's language options in for Netherlands so should be easier to navigate.

As someone who recently came from a 2 week trip in the Netherlands, I can't imagine driving a pickup truck in that country. It's a beautiful place however.

Sorry for your issues. Maybe get in touch with a Vendor on here, named MVI, the owners name is Anthony Brush, nice guy. I just purchased an updated radio module for my 2014 Sierra to have Apple CarPlay. But they also do custom programming for the intellilink systems. Maybe he can help you out with some of the issues you are having. Here is a link to their profile: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/user/128971-mvi-inc/

And for your Pandora issue:

You should be able to stream Pandora thru bluetooth.

Make sure your phone is connected via bluetooth, then hit the media button until the radio is on bluetooth. THe music should be coming over your stereo.

The 8sp auto 8L80E (A8) didn't come into production for the 2015 model year until after the 15's had been out for awhile. So it is possible you got one of the early built models that has the A6 transmission. It may also have to do with what drivetrain was EU certified as well.

@jordan18 yes taxes are nuts in this country. With cars, they first charge the normal vat 21% over the new value of the car. That total amount, is then taxed again with a special tax for cars which is called BPM (tax for car and motor vehicles) so they tax over tax.. Only in Netherland so bizar. Even the highest European judge condemned and concluded that this is illegal but the government did nothing about it. We pay 1,70 per liter unleaded petrol :-/ that why almost all USA trucks are Converted to run on lpg. So is mine. Lpg is 0.50 cents per liter. And since I registered my car as a company truck for my own business , I was able to get the vat (17.000) back on my tax return and then you "only" have to pay 50 road tax per month. If you would drive a car private In the same weight class, you'd pay 200 road tax a month.

Porsche, Mercedes, bwm,, trow a stone in any direction and you'll hit one,, so common. My car is considered a level above any of these fully loaded cars.

Driving a truck over here requires "special skills" but it contributes thus so much more to the wow factor.. We have literally tens of thousands dodge rams driving here

Last week I was driving in Amsterdam on a Saturday evening and a guy stopped and started drooling over my hood (litteraly) as his also drunk gf tried to pull him along, he walked to my window and said: hey dude,, this is a sweet truck,, its amazing! Turns out he was from the states and never seen this model before hahah.. And 5 min later this lady shouted,, Nice truck babe! Makes me feel like home ??

I think the best way to go if indeed to get GM Corp to contact their colleagues at Opel to see if this can be arranged since its a GM car and I didn't buy anything from Opel. Are there any GM representatives active on this forum?

Thnx
