New Chevrolet CAI installed

My plan is to drive 10 to 12,000 mile before doing any mods that way I am going to be pretty sure that I do NOT have a problem child truck and will not have to be concerned about the warranty. My Cold Air Inductions intake off my 2016 6.2 is in storage for a while. That GM intake does look good though if I did not already have a CAI I would definitely be considering that if they made it for the 6.2.........

How do you like the CAI system? I'm looking at this for my 2015. I previously had an Airaid kit on my 2003, but those kits for a 2015 are over $400 now. I'm also looking at S&B if anyone has any experience with those.

The AFE and Volant were the most effective with some great gains. All HP figures were measured at the wheels.

 

You can buy a Volant on Ebay for less than $325 shipped right now.

Ya but the exchange rate gets you. Almost 30 cents on the dollar.

so it would cost me an additional 120 bucks, plus high shipping cost to get it to Canada.

then taxes and duties.......

I'm glad (but not glad) that someone else has asked this question.  I've had my CAI on for just past a year.  I've had that rattling/knocking noise ever since the dealer installed.  When I asked the dealer about that noise, they said it's normal because you're "opening everything up under the hood"; strange response.  I made sure the hoses, clamps, and everything was tight, which it was.  It hasn't caused any problems, I just have gotten used to it.  But would like to know if there is a fix/adjustment.  Thanks!

Yup when I put on the gm cai there was about a 500 rpm range where it sounded like someone was banging on my intake with a hammer. I didn't bother trying higher octane fuel or a tune, just removed it and returned it, and put the money towards a nice set of midnight edition rims.

Yup, gas station attendent accidentally put 87 in my tuned 6.2.

 

I got on the highway, gave it some gas, heard this rattling, I’m like wtf is that noise. I kept trying to duplicate it for awhile. Happened mostly under heavy throttle at lower rpm. After awhile it clicked, looked at my receipt, it said “regular”

I have not.  How many fill ups of high octane before noticing if it would make a difference or not; 1, 2, or 3??  Thanks!

Probably between 1 and 2 depending on how empty the tank was. Give it a try and let us know. It might not do anything, or it will solve the problem.

It would stop the detonation as soon as the new fuel reaches the injectors

Sorry for the delay replying back.  My last 3 fill-ups were with high octane (91) premium.  I would say it definitely made a difference, maybe 95%.  There were a few instances were I heard the "rattling" noise.  It was slight but overall,  much improved from before, so thanks for the tip!  Is it worth using high octane fuel all the time moving forward?  No thx, not for me.  I'll go back to regular fuel, starting today.
