Drove my cousin's 2015 6.2 Denali today. Was very unimpressed with

First off, this was one of the quietest vehicles I have ever been it. Interior noise was nonexistent.

Now, the trans manners flat out sucked. From a 20mph stomp the trans would do absolutely nothing for a solid second , then, it would drop to 2nd gear for a millisecond, before getting its head out of its ass, and realizing that you actually wanted to accelerate, only then dropping to 1st. Shifts were lackluster.Crusing at 45mph,and slightly rolling on the throttle resulted in a pretty irritating "clunk"

I expected the engine to pull harder once it did get in gear. It moved out allright, but far from how 420hp should move.

For kicks, I dragged out my 137,000mi,2006 5.3 Silverado. It has a Nelson tune, and nothing more. We went to a local spot an ran them a few times. His truck would jump out on mine off the line. By 60mph,he had a solid length on me, but at the 1/4,he only had my truck by 2 lengths.

My truck ran a 14.68 back when I first got it tuned in 2007ish. It dosent feel like its lost a lot. At best, id give his truck a 14.3 in the quarter, which, imo, is weak sauce.

I was pretty set on a 6.2 as my next ride, but im having misgivings. Especially if GM is getting aggressive with voiding warranty if they see a tune. Id have to get it tuned.GM needs to fix this issue. Inexcusable for a $55,000 truck.

I love my 6.2 and I think its pretty quick. Pretty sure they run 14.0 or so. Pretty quick for a full size crew cab and no other stock truck can touch me.

I had a 2006 5.3 and now I have a 2015 5.3 and my new one is hands down faster. Hard to believe it was that close with a 6.2. Even with a tune.

You're sayin your tuned older 5.3L is only a truck length or two slower than a new 6.2L? I would have thought it would be more than that

I remember watching a 5.3 vs 6.2 "matchup" that showed the 6.2 winning a 0-60 drag race by about 1.5 seconds. Both stock.

You can blame the 6spd and 8spd shifting dynamics on the customer base, all of the older people who complain about harsh shifts due to firmness. That input over time is why the manufactures are making the shifts so seamless now. I remember back when you knew the torque converter locked up as you could hear it, see it and feel it. Now they slip the thing constantly so you cant feel it locking in, same goes for the shifts. It is if GM and the manufactures think you are transporting 100 year old dynamite in the bed and you don't want it to blow up.

I can tell you right now, reduce the up shift speeds by 25% and the downshift speeds by 35% and the truck wakes up. I cant wait to see how much more it improves once HPT get the shift pressure coding sorted out as well, at least from the ride I had in a truck that had the transmission side mildly tuned.

Dont get me wrong, I know why the shifts sucked. Myast 2 GM trucks were total dogs until I had them tuned. Just wish GM didnt have sucha a hardon for warranty denial.

The 2016 Vette costs the same as a Denali - get that, then you can do sub 12 sec 1/4 miles and 0-60 under 4 secs. It's a luxury truck, not really meant to be run on a track. The average age of the Denali buyer is 46 years old, different demographic for this truck

Well if the GM 6.2 doesn't satisfy you, I'm afraid your out-a luck, because the other Brands can't match it!

The one thing I would mention is that, with the 15 6.2, if the pedals aren't adjusted right, or you are not used to them, you may miss the pressure notch in the pedal near the end of pedal travel. Not kidding here, near the end of the pedal travel it feels like the bottom, but a small pressure switch is present and after you go past that, the 6.2 becomes a different beast.

It's possible you hit this, but I literally went a few weeks before I realized that my pedal was too close to my floor mat and the switch was not engaged until I brought the pedal up.

Yep you can feel it click when you put the pedal to the floor.
