Did a little cosmetic modding the other day

Been wanting to remove the chrome rub strips on the doors for a bit, got to the mid 80's the other day and the truck was clean so I figured what the hell lets give it a try. Took about an hour and I had all 4 rub strips off and the paint cleaned back up. So far I am liking, 1 step closer to the monochromatic paint scheme I wanted.

Next up is to order the paint to match mirror caps and door handles and get them painted and swapped out, at that point the outside of the truck will be done.

And while in the garage the before and after shots.

Huge difference looks good. I think i might be the the only one in history that had it done as soon my truck arrived to the dealer. My brother was my salesman. And I told him as soon as that my truck arrives I want door moldings and all badges off the truck. So yeah drove off the lots looking 10 times better

Looks good! Because I live in Door Ding Capital of the world, I am leaving mine on. However, mine are color matched, so I don't mind them as much. Your truck looks great without those Chrome moldings.

Do you plan to do the wheel trims white as well?

looks great...i would remove the steps next...but that is just me.

Yeah no way the steps are coming off, the wife wouldn't be able to get into the truck and she would just slide off of the seat all of the time getting out. They come in use for me as well.

Sadly if you actually look at those strips they do absolutely nothing to stop door dings, they are not even in the right place to be able to do anything.

Not trying to start a war or anything but this statement is inaccurate, park you wife's vehicle next to the your truck and open her door near your truck, bump strips, door handle, mirror are the most likely contact points against another car door, NOT rogue shopping karts.

Common sense here, there is no way they can protect against all types of scenarios and be minimalistic at the same time.

One time some dents your truck your going to wish you left them on, you'd be surprised how much those strips save your doors, and in most cases cost less than one professional PDR averaging about $75-$100. That's if they don't crack/chip your paint. GM's paint is soft, I got clear bra on my entire front end, yes full hood, full fenders and front bumper, only b/c of the soft paint not related to bump strips.

They work on mine about half the time when I have checked, certainly not useless. Ill take half the door dings anytime...

Had a guy in a Mitsubishi yesterday hit my truck with his door while I was sitting in it on the phone.

It hit right on the door molding.

Disrepectful people are disgusting, but at least it saved my paint.

I personally dont like the trimless look. It reminds me of a base model, but to each their own.

What are you running for tires?

I will take the chances on a "door ding". So far any door that has opened near my truck has been well above that molding. Now on my 2010 Sierra the molding was in the right spot and actually worked since it was a 4" wide color matched molding. My wife door would leave a door ding every time it opens against my truck if you were to try. I have almost 3 years in the body style so for me I am good with it, plus I don't park near people and if we are going somewhere that busy we will take her car since it is smaller than my truck.

I am running Nitto Terra Grapplers in the stock 275/55-R20 size.
