Tansmission temp

So I picked up a boat over an hour and half away highway driving almost all the way temp stayed at 199 cruise set at 65. Small boat 18 foot Bayliner. No issues I'm towing my boat which is quite a bit heavier 20 foot hurricane sundeck this weekend to the coast for the weekend. When I tow my boat on Highway I've seen temp all the way up to 207. Anyone know normal temp or any temp to keep it under?

2014 Silverado 5.3 l. 3.42 rear normal towing package rated for 9600 lbs

You're fine, once you start seeing 230+ then I'd start to worrying. These transmissions have a thermostat that opens up at around 192 degree Fahrenheit, usually keeps the trans well regulated within 20 degrees or so

OK awesome thanks. It's a long drive and big bridges just wanted to get an idea before hand. Most drives have not been on hills

if the trans gets too hot, it will tell you to pull over and let the engine idol. the message will come up on the screen.

Trip went great beautiful weather and trans temp stayed under 200 the whole time

Not sure if this a dumb question, but where is the gauge located for the transimission temperature at i have a 2014 silverado 4.3 not sure if these came with it or not

MIne is located on the dash between the speedo and tach. The DIC has an Info setting choose this one and scroll through and you will see the trans temp gauge. If it's not in there, you can pull up the settings page and add stuff you want to be shown in the Info page. In my owners manual it talks about the DIC starting on page 5-33.

I've had a block thermal bypass valve for god know how long. Just noticed it and my transmission temps are 220+ daily

 

No issues at all, still shifts great and fluid still colorful.

I heard from the Chevrolet service that anything over 215 was bad. Do you have the 8 speed or something different?

Maybe the service center doesn't know what the actual parameters are. Now that I have my new truck tho the transmission coolers are so nice it's hard for it to come to temp. I have to drive 20 min to get it ready to tow
