4l60e Fluid Change

Ive been needing to do a transmission filter/fluid change in my 4l60e in my 2008. it calls for Dexron VI, but I cant find any VI fluid anywhere, I only found acdelcos vi fluid on amazon. I was woundering if I could use a dex/merc fluid from valvoline and would it be as good? Thanks

NO, use DexronVI only, your dealer should have it if you can't find it elsewhere, I can't believe your having a hard time finding it.

Where do you live that you can't find this? Like the other poster said, ONLY use Dex VI

It's even commonly available in Canada now. It was a bit tougher to find 6-7 years ago, but not anymore. Can find Mobil 1Dex VI on the shelf at Canadian Tire and Parts Source.

I dont really know, I cant find it in pep boys or autozone in 5 quarts/1gal. I can only find it in 1 quart bottles. If you could find some please let me know.

Anytime I've done the change I always just use 5 single quart bottles. It takes me 4.5 quarts for a change with the filter.
