6.2 w/ max tow package

My local dealer could not find me the 6.2 w/NHT. I've searched the internet for months, lo and behold, found a SLT Texas Edition loaded in Charlotte, NC...90 miles from me! Sent email to confirm they had it, dealer called on a Sunday morning and said it was still there. Went up the next day and drove it home...under $50K. Dealer said most dealers don't order them as they don't move fast. Only thing missing I would have liked to have was the AC seats. Sometimes ya get lucky! Getting ready for a 6000 mile + cross country trip pulling a 7000 lb TT load. I'll see how she does in the mountains out west, but she's rated at 11,700 for towing...so I am confident. I had a Yukon Denali with the 6.2/HD Tow Pkg and pulled the TT in the NC mountains...not problem, but at a rated 7900 lbs towing, it was too close for comfort.

When I picked up my Denali with the 6.2 in May my dealer had three 6.2 max tow SLT in stock but they had put a leveling kit, Nitto Terra Grapplers and the GM Borla exhaust on all of them and marked them up to Denali prices.

Awesome, love that color. I have the Iridium color which is nice, but that blue is awesome.

Nice looking truck! I am sure it was well worth the wait.

Sweet truck outburst! Mine is similar but a Chevy. Deep ocean with the max trailer and 6.2. I also bought mine from Ingersol but the one in New York back in April.

Same here....no max trailer though. Love the 6.2

For those of you with the 6.2/NHT, what is your payload rating? My understanding is the payload is less with the 6.2 than the 5.3 (maybe more based on what other stuff is on the higher trim level trucks).

With the 5.3 NHT, have have a sticker payload of 2,015 lbs.

Just curious.

Nice truck outburst!

I picked up my 2017 August 2 except it's the CHEVY ltz version, same color and engine with the max tow package.

I added the same floor liners too!

Back in January I started looking for my next lease....I told them pretty much I want an SLT CC and had to have the 6.2L, 20" wheels and the upgraded sound system. They spent 2 months looking but nothing around so I ordered one and it took 14 weeks to arrive. Like people said the 6.2 aren't generally stocked because they aren't sold like the 5.3.....they are on allocation so a number of orders need to build up and then they're all made at once.

My payload is 1849 lbs. That's a cc sb 4x4 6.2l with max tow.

My 2016 Sierra SLT is 6.2/NHT with a payload of 1842 lbs. Pulling a TT cross country now. Only me and my wife and two small dogs. Truck bed has fold up chairs, tools, small compressor and some incidentals. I do't think i'm close to the payload. My TT is probably 7000-7500 lbs. No problem in the mountains as we head to Glacier National Park.

That's kinda what I thought. I pull a Cougar 30RKS with a total loaded weight around 8,200 pounds. Loaded up for 2 weeks, no water, I scaled at 3,420 KG which is about 7,540 pounds. very close to my 7,600 pound GVWR. I don't know if it is the 6.2 or the other bells and whistles an SLT or Denali has over my SLE, but it would have been enough to put me over my weights.

This sounds like a great time.

    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.

    • Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?
