6.2 w/ max tow package

Just wanted to let off a little steam.

I have been looking to trade in my 2013 GMC Sierra SLE 4X4 on a new 1/2 ton with the 6.2 and the max tow package.

After weeks of looking at dealer inventory's in my area and finding only (2) both with mega options and priced beyond $60K I just cant understand why these truck are not out there?

Am I the only guy who wants a 1/2 ton with the 6.2? No dealers order these for there stock?

The GM website lets you build a SLT w/ the 6.2 & Max Tow, but my dealer says they have not made that combination since November of 2015?

I am buying a new camper and need a new truck. A cookie cutter 5.3 w/ 3.42's is not what I want to tow with. Just very frustrated with the lack of availability.

Have a good weekend.

You're like everyone else who wants the 6.2, the demand is so high production can't keep up. They've all been bought up cause they sell like hot cakes

I looked for the same originally actually. I wanted a rather base SLT with the 6.2 mainly for the 8spd tranny and the larger engine. Go big or go home right?

I ended up with a 5.3L SLE that I got an awesome deal on instead because I didn't want to order and wait around and because the sales on the 2016s are pretty solid right now.

I guess that ordering one (2017) will probably be the only way to get one. I just was concerned when they said they had not been produced since last year?

Camaro's and Corvette's are made every day with the 6.2, why would they not try to meet the demand for a $50k truck?

They still make them. There is one 30 miles from my house at Eagle Buick GMC.

Not sure what part of Upstate NY you are in but I bought my 2012 Silverado 6.2L at Paddock Chevrolet. Very Rare find. So glad i got it.

I work in Rochester and live in the Finger lakes area. Very rare indeed, they tout the truck on all of the commercials, but in reality they have little to none of them available.

I asked a friend who sells GMC's and he said, they stock what sells. Its all about turn and burn and 6.2L equipped vehicles are not fast movers. Every now and again GMC forces one on them. Said they ordered 75 trucks at special incentives for dealers but they had to take some 4.3L and 6.2L trucks in the mix, pattern orders. The 4.3L and 6.2L were some of the last trucks to sell. 5.3L equipped Denali's were gone fast.

I have family that owns a local Chevy dealer. They don't try to get them because they are hard to sell. On here there popular but most people don't want to spend the cash on them and they think the fuel mileage is crap so it scares them away. Not sure where the they can't keep them in stock crowd comes from. They will find them if you want but don't try and carry them. Most people want a 5.3 all star. It's the best bang for buck, has the best rebates, and lease well. They sell lots of trucks to GM workers in our area.

I ordered my 2016 6.2L with NHT (max trailering package) in April and it finally arrived last week. Should be taking delivery tomorrow. They make them in that combo - your dealership just doesn't know shit.

I search and drove from Northern Ca to Southern Ca to find my Double Cab 6.2 LTZ.....

After five or six 5'3's, I would have drove further, the difference is night and day. I love it.

Mileage and price of gas? Hell, if I was worried about that i would have bought a Prius (NOT)

I mentioned to the dealer "these are hard to find" and he replied, "yea, so are the buyers"

Not every one needs the 6.2, but if you like the most powerful motor they offer, or your towing a trailer, it's a no brainier, go get one..

Mine was ordered in mid Dec. I got it the middle of June. They couldn't find what I wanted in a 600 mile search radius so I had to order. I hated the wait, but it was worth every second to get my truck.

I have a 2013 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4 SLT crew cab loaded with towing package. I had to order it with the 6.2 L engine. Got it from Beck and Masten out of Houston. I LOVE this truck. It was born to pull. I have the 3.72 rear end. I replaced the stock 17 inch wheels with 20's. 31d820542cf5365208a2e3d1e30a9f54.jpg

I am on my second GMC Sierra All Terrain with the 6.2L, the trucks are out there. The max tow is your hick up as it doesn't allow for the Z71 package and only allows the regular ole 4x4 package.

    • I wonder as well, why they would send me a text message with links to these suggested procedures totalling over $10,000 without even the slightest hint of how they arrived at these being necessary.
    • https://precisionlubrication.com/articles/oil-filter-efficiency/     For them it is a problem of $$$$ and compliance. To cover both they have to lie from the heart.    Government wants low waste oil numbers so the bar needs to be very low on contamination to met that requirement.  Consumer wants cheap maintenance (perceived cost). Again requiring a low bar.  OEM wants high margins at a cost effective warranty rate and lots of repeat customers. More low bar.  Filter manufacture wants the same thing the OEM wants. See the pattern?   Consumers are fickle and also want perfection requiring a HIGH bar. Inconsistent with all of the above. Consumers can be, when the put their minds to it, inquisitive, love winning arguments which requires some useful information to be available to support them. And this is where it gets sticky and the lies begin.    Information needs a solid well grounded point of reference if we are to compare in a useful way. There is a standard for this.  ISO 4548-12. This standard sets the particle size at a specific Beta ratio and darn few are faithful to its intent.    If they don't state the test method they change the particle size or the Beta ratio to hit a perceived favorable standard. They obscure the information in a way as to prevent direct comparisons leaving the consumer with one method. UOA's with an ISO 4406 test result. Pricey and not allot of labs willing to do the work. Lobby work happens everywhere, not just at the seat of government.

    • Good Morning Gents..hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful saturday morning. I have a 2001 GMC Sierra that I bought used in 2018. I am the 2nd owner and its a beautiful truck. Ive put about 60,000 miles on it and recently the front end has felt funny. Kind of loose when hitting bumps adn sometimes I actually feel a "bang" in the steering wheel. I took it to a local guy who said that everything was tight and he tightened the steering box. It didnt feel much better, so I had him replace the front shocks, which had noto been done since I bought it. It had the check enging light on so I took it into a local garage to fix that and check out the suspension. Everything is original and the rubber bushings that I can see look bad. They said everything was tight and there wasnt any play in the front end. Im concerned about the banging feeling in the wheel. Ive been driving this truck for 8 years, so I know how it usually feels and this is something new. Its a second vehicle, so I dont drive it all the time, but Im trying to use it more often. I live out in the country and some of the  roads are kind of rough and I alive on gravel roads. Anyone deal with anything like this before?
    • Yes of course. There’s no experience in the Trump organization in hiring contractors. it’s not like they’re experienced in that field.😆
