ABS light?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, as you probably know, the ABS is notorious for going out on older silverados. I have a 2001 2500HD with the 6.0. The ABS hasn't worked for probably 10 years and the light is on constantly. I have absolutely no desire to fix the ABS, I'd just like to get the light off the dash. Is there something I can unplug to get the light off?

I also wish I was able to fix the typo in the title

You could see if fixing the ground on the 'wing' off the frame under the drivers side door fixes the problem...

Removing the instrument panel, then removing light/cutting the leads to it would turn off the light.

I checked that ground and cleaned it up. It was pretty clean even before I touched it. It's the actual ABS unit that is faulty. Like you said cutting the wires to the light behind the instrument panel would do it, I was just hoping there was an easier way

The ABS Module is an easy DIY fix. I would remove and re solder it personally. If not unsolder the bulb or pinch it in the cluster.
