Well I was bringing my boy home from football practice last night. Pull in the driveway and thought I pulled far enough away from my wife's Camaro .... Well he opens the pass door and hits the truck door on the camaros (2001) mirror. Its not a huge ding but a ding nonetheless. Has anyone used companies like dent wizard or such. Not a single flaw in the body til now

Find anybody who does paintless dent repair. I had someone ding mine, huge crease, with their door due to wind. You can't even tell it was there. A side note ~ My dent was an inch to the right of my passenger door handle. Difficult to get to but all is well. Good luck.

hard to tell how deep that is from photo.

 

if you have the items you can try heating it with a heatgun and then hold a can of compressed air upside down and blast it with freezing cold. This is usually first thing any paintless repair will try. The increased contraction of the metal can pop it back out ... sometimes not always.

 

other thing you could look at is popping off the door panel and seeing if can get at that area from the inside. but you may not be comfertable with doing this and want to seek help. Based on my years of non professional body shop experience growing up around a body and paint shop, I would use a true shop before mobile 'dentless' repair. A shop will use all same techniques first anyway before trying to go deeper.

The first dent is the hardest one to get over. After that.... meh. Trucks are made for working... they get dents.

75.00 or so retail, any PDR place can fix it and wont even have to touch the door panel, you will do more damage trying to fix that yourself.

That may be how you view your truck or vehicles, but not all people do. I take care of my truck and any of our other vehicles no matter what the use of the vehicle is. I don't hunt, might only haul materials maybe twice a year in my truck but do use it for making sure I can get back and forth to work no matter the weather and to make it to racing events. Doesn't mean just because it gets it first blemish that I write it off and say oh well.

 

I address any blemish right then and either get them fixed or attended to as soon as I can, all of our vehicles stay in pristine condition then entire time we own them. Too freaking expensive to let them go to crap.

I can't really tell how big it is from the photos, but I have pulled many dents with a household plunger. These were bigger dents (ranging from softball to basketball size) from like cows and such, but still dents. Good luck!

I utilized a (reputable) paintless dent repair shop locally to remove some 200+ divots from a freak hail storm on my previous truck (insurance covered it). After the fact, it was UNDETECTABLE that anything had even happened.

 

A good paintless dent repair guy can do wonders. In your case, if he even needs access to the back of the panel, that shouldn't be the end of the world on a door (just pull the trim).

 

I think you can get "back to normal" easily with a good practitioner.

 

I am guessing around $100, if that.

 

IF all else fails, call your local dealer. EVERY dealer I know has one of these folks in their back pocket that they could recommend. My experience is that they aren't too anal about telling you who it is.

 

You should be OK.

Its about 1/2 inch long about and about 1/8 inch deep. Not big really bit it bends the light just right and it makes it look pretty substantial. Yea I can't stand imperfections on a new vehicle whether its visual or auditory ( clanging, banging). Like TJ said it really sucks and def gonna get it fixed. 75 bucks I can handle and not pulling the panel off is even better

grumpy aero guy has the best idea, check with your dealer. I had a ding removed from 2 different trucks now from the person who my dealer used and he does awesome work. that would be my suggestion, just because you can see their work rather having someone who you know nothing about work on it.

That's an easy fix. Wallet wise, not too bad either. Look to spend around 40-75, and you won't be able to tell it was there. I worked with a few guys who did PDR and the stuff they get out is amazing.

I had a 3 inch crease in my old Hummer H3 in the passenger door . Took it to a Chevy garage to their PDR guy and when I got the H3 back I couldn't tell there was ever a dent there . I was shocked !!! I think I paid around 70.00 . Most of places that do PDR in my area start out at 50.00 for small dents .

OP, it can be fixed. Yeah it sucks. I'm with you for a truck as expensive and new, why would you be happy having a dent in it?
