Upper control arms

Anyone replace their aluminum UCA's with aftermarket? I looked at Zone's but they don't make any for the 1500's. Would one for a 2500/3500 work on our trucks?

^ What he said. All solid brands.

Depends on how much you want to spend. If you live in an area with a lot of salt used on the roads, I would steer away from a uniball style UCA unless you are cool with cleaning them and keeping them lubricated on a regular basis. An upgraded ball joint style arm would probably be better.

What are the differences in the aluminum vs steel UCA ?

What type of control arms does a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500. Steel? or Aluminum? Thanks for the help!

Should be steel on a 2014/15

I bought Pro Comp UCAs for my 2015.

I recently learned something about control arms.i bought steel upper control arms for my truck off of Amazon. They were Moog brand and the part number I ordered worked according to Amazon. I installed them and had the truck aligned. The guy finishes up tells me he could not get one setting adjusted. Caster or camber I can't remember, the one that affects steering wheel returning to center. I can't tell there is a problem driving the truck. Fast forward a few weeks I am watching car shows and see Rockauto commercials. I decided to check out parts for my truck. Specifically upper control arms to compare prices. It is then I see there are several upper control arms. The ones I have and a set that have adjustable camber of +-3*. Apparently I needed those upper control arms. I am now in process of ordering these. Once again they will be Moog.

I don't know the difference in the arms as far as materials but I need the extra adjustments I know that. They do say for Z60 suspension. I wish I had seen this first.

I assume you have some type of spacer lift?

some models of our K2s have steel and some have aluminum control arms. Is that having an effect here or are you aware of which your truck takes? Just thought I would mention it.

No lift. I am at stock height.i thought I had a bad ball joints. I found it when I was rotation get tires. I noticed movement when pushing pulling at 12 and 6 o'clock position on the wheel. I had my wife watch but she couldn't tell anything was moving. I ordered a arms anyway. I finally thought about it when my son was over one day and had him look. He noticed it moving at the bushing on the upper control arm. Cool I've got new arms anyway I thought. When I started to change the arm in question I noticed the rear bolt holding the arm was loose and this was allowing the movement I found.

All of that for nothing going really. Now I have a new set of arms on order to get the right ones. It had steel upper arms. 8 put steel upper arms on it. We'll see what comes in that is supposed to be the upper arms.

I hope that loose bolt holding the arm didn't deform the hole for your sake! How many miles on your truck?
