stupid question-sorry

How do I know if I have the traffic feature on my 2015? I read the manual, it's kinda vague, and then called Onstar and of course they couldn't help. I have the Nav package that should have it, but it doesn't seem I do??

There's 2 types of nav with the trucks. Navigation and onstar nav. Pretty much just voiced directions. No maps on the screen.

I can't stand it when I see Nav in the descriptions of trucks for sale. Most of the time it's the stupid onstar nav, which I don't even consider navigation if you can't see any maps.

Log onto onstar and you can see if you're subscribed to it. I believe it's only free for the first 3 or 5 months. I do agree onstar is a pain in the ass to deal with. Their website and invoice is deliberately confusing and vague as to what services you are or are not signed up for because most of what they offer is useless. Personally, I hated the "live" traffic. I never found it very accurate. At least here on Long Island where traffic backs up everywhere all the time.

thanks guys that's what I'm confused by-I do have the map-with the buildings, it's 3 dimensional (well), I just don't seem to have the traffic alerts by the color codes. And NV, I agree in major metro areas like we live in the news channels can't even get the traffic right either, don't see how something like Onstar could. I was really just wondering.....

If you want traffic updates on your factory navigation, you have to pay for the traffic service from XM. It costs $3/month on top of your radio subscription. The $3 also gives you weather updates so that your weather app works.

Traffic disappeared off the factory Nav with the end of the XM subscription. The 8" screen with Auto Android/cell phone provides a Googler Nav with weather and traffic alerts for free.

My cheapie Garmin works great, always.

I agree, I only used the GM nav once, and it took me right to a highway that was closed for construction (I96 a couple years back).

My Garmin's have traffic and work very well. And no subscription fees.

I agree I like the navigation on my phone better than the truck, but the OP asked how to make the traffic feature work on his factory navigation. I do like the weather feature that comes with the traffic service on XM.
