So I took everyone's advice and kept my truck but me and mike1220 have been chatting a lot lately and we got on the subject of bumpers.

My gf supports me getting a new one(great lol)

So I've been talking with backwoods bumpers and what I've come up with is

Pretty much this, accept no cubes but two morimoto Xb led fogs on each side, parking sensors, winch and the bull bar. Didn't see a need to have a light bar in the bumper.

I am arranging to have it nude so I can linex the entire thing, thing is... do you guys think this will look good on these trucks? The aftermarket bumper? I like the one I have now but I do like the aftermarket one also. I just need some insight and pros and cons and feed back from people.

I am currently emailing the guy back and forth lining stuff up and getting quotes. Just asking for some advice before I spend 3k lol

3 k is a lot for a bumper. there are a lot of options cheaper. for example, I paid 1250 shipped for this magnum bumper...post-165329-147945792844_thumb.jpg

$3,000 answer.

Put the money away for the future. :happysad:

3000 is an insane amount for a "custom" bumper when you can get exactly what you want on a standard non-custom bumper.

Unless this particular bumper is made of gold, id say buy a different brand and put the rest in the bank.

I love financial advice on a mod thread! These are good comments as I also believe you can find a much better price. Also check out your local ma and pa fabricating shop. They could have a talented fabricator who could make a bumper to your specifications for a reasonable price. A word of caution is that although these bumpers are great for dealing with the low speed hits, they are not forgiving on higher speed crashes.

IMO, no sense in spending money on a bumper that won't keep deer out of the lights/grille/radiator. The bumper itself is inexpensive, and it's hard to drive home with busted headlights or no coolant.

I used to think a bumper wouldn't offer any kind of safety upgrade, until a local ambulance hit a turning vehicle. Basically a "small frontal overlap". The paramedics claimed the driver would have died without the steel bumper distributing the impact to the frame.

The bumper looks awesome! I am going to get aftermarket bumpers for cosmetics & because it is thicker gauge steel than stock. Hopefully it does not bend or cress when a stray shopping cart hits it like the OEM ones do. While I agree with kstruckcountry about getting something that protects the front end. I believe there is a correct bumper for every application. Not every person has the need for a bumper with the weight and size of a Caterpiller D11 blade. Some people want a better approach angle for driving off road, some people need a big burly bumper for pushing and pulling things, some people want a "little" extra protection. Not everyone has to worry about hitting cattle, lions, tigers, deer or bears.

I mean it'll come out to 3k or maybe less after linex applied to it.

I don't think the bumper will be too heavy. Maybe with the winch.

So looks wise you think it'll look alright on a truck like ours??

I'm just worried it'll look goofy. :(

And I want a winch because I don't wanna rely on someone to pull me out if I get stuck.

I also appreciate all the info, still wondering about you guys opinions on if it will look fine?

I think it would look good.

Would I pay 3k, hell no!

No need for twin xb's either.

I'd rather spend that money on guns and ammo and take that beast out in the woods and blow some crap up!

only thing about magnum is they don't offer a winch capable bumper and to my knowledge they don't offer parking sensor accommodations

I love the raw steel look. Just wonder if a clear coat would successfully work.

I've been looking at aftermarket bumpers myself, when I was at SEMA a couple weeks ago I saw what I wanted.

Iron Cross just came out with a low profile bumper; it doesn't stick out a shit ton, it's not huge; just looks like an aggressive stock shaped bumper.

If it was painted to match it would look much better though.

I didn't see one for the Sierra but I'm sure they have one..
