New gen transmission old school truck

Anyone know if a 6 speed automatic will bolt up to a 95 7.4l sounds like a good idea and a possible combatant against poor fuel mileage.

I doubt it would work. The newer transmissions work off of the computer, which gets it's info from the engine sensors.

may be hack a manual mode for the time being.

all the transmissions catch up later in the computing aftermarket.

my dad has a 2016, I play with manual modes for the six speed.

the other thing is overall gearing.. not any different than the old, just mor egears to get to the same overdrive..

but I see where your thoughts come from.

A 5 speed nv4500 will get you your gas mileage, if that is your real goal.

Not sure what outcome I'm after just more curious to know whatever model it is if it would bolt up to the big block.

Probably be easier to get a Gear Vendor overdrive. I'm thinking of getting one for my c3500. That 7.4 with 4:10 rear end is terrible for fuel mileage.

It looks like it would physically bolt on but making it work is an entirely different matter. There's a lot of electronics in the 6 speeds.
