Rust Prevention

What are some of the best methods to prevent rust from appearing on the frame and undercarriage? Is there anything you guys spray on the frame and pretty much entire undercarriage that you found to work? I know I can POR15 paint the entire frame but why do that over a fairly new frame thats not rusty yet, just trying to prevent rust from forming in the future.

Whatever you do do NOT apply fluid film. It isn't compatible with the GM wax dip and will actually eat it away and cause it to rust faster. I just spray krylon crap on my rust spots whenever i have it up on a lift at work. Not sure it does much but at least is doesnt look rusty.. :driving:

I had my truck up on a lift, and went over the frame and any spots that could capture crap with spray rubberized undercoating.

I don't live where it snows, but I do work on a steel hull boat that sits in saltwater 24/7, 365....best thing to prevent or limit rust, coat any bare metal and wash it. Dawn and fresh water will do wonders. Letting salt sit on the best of coatings will still rust in my experience.

wow who knew,

I use Carwell, get it sprayed in the fall, touch up seems throughout the year with a squeeze bottle,

This is my 05 that I traded 2 years ago next week with 110k, zero rust anywhere truck was awesome and sometimes I wish I still had it, not so much with the 16 but definitely when I had the 14

A MUST DO IMO, I removed the lower rubber seals, the one along the bottom edge of the door, they trap moisture, dirt, debris, and accelerate the corrosion process, no notice in outside sound at all

Does anyone sell the original factory wax type coating to just touch up where it wears off? Would something like corrosion x or boeshield work with the factory coating?
