Towing Adapter Plugs with your truck

Folks like I have posted previously first time back into the GM line in over 20 years so forgive the question on this.

I noticed I did not receive the 7-way or 4-way wiring adapters to fit my towing package on the GMC like I had on my previous six F-150s'.

Now when I test drove a Z71, there was a small cardboard box in the black floor board and the salesman stated to me that was the adapter plugs for the towing package.

Was the Chevy salesman correct and should have I received the adapter plugs for the towing package on this new GMC?

Oh, and the box in back are the tie down rings for the box.

Check the bumper as from the factory, GM uses a 4 way/7 way receptacle. You should have the trailer plug with two doors on it. The only loose trailer wiring you should have is the trailer brake jumper harness. That box could have been for the under rail cargo lamps, or even tie down rings as well.

Apologies should have explained a little better, my receptacles, wiring, etc are there and good in the bumper just to the left of the license plate, but I am wondering does GM provide a 7way and 4way plug to use with the 7way and 4way receptacle mounted in the bumper?

What kind of "plug" are you looking for exactly? A 7 way to 4 way adapter piece?

Well I always did get a 7way for wiring to a trailer harness and a 4way with pigtail to wire up trailers.

Ford always supplied those along with a factory plug and play with pigtail for wiring in a brake unit so it would plug right into the factory harness with their trucks and I am wondering does GM supply the 7way and 4way plugs with their trucks that has the towing package like Ford did.

I understand most trailers you purchase today already have a 7way or 4way already attached to them, but it was handy to have those plugs encase a person did get a trailer without the plugs on them.

It isn't a huge deal I can purchase the plugs if I need them, but I was just curious if GM did infact supply the plugs with their new trucks.

Damn them Ford boys think of everything! Now I understand what you are looking for. Unfortunately GM no do that lol. They do give you a trailer brake harness if it doesn't have the factory trailer brake controller. That's about it though.

Thank you sir, yes I already have the internal brake controller installed so I just wanted to make sure the dealership skimped out and removed my plugs by accident when they were doing their half-arse "cleaning job" on my truck.

Well it was Ford motor that was supplying this stuff with their new trucks, after only being a Ford guy for last 20 years I was kinda use to everything coming with the truck. LOL

You really do not need any adapters as you have both plugs in the bumper for the type the trailer has. They used to supply an adapter to the 4 pin plug when you only had the 7pin plug in the bumper..

What is everything? You have the two most commonly used trailer plugs already installed on the bumper.
