Trading in the 2016 LT

I've got a 2016 2LT Double Cab Z71 w/ 5.3 and 3.08 Gears. I hardly do any trailering and the truck fits my needs fine, but I've been tossing around the idea of getting a crew cab 6.2 with leather and the console. If you guys don't mind maybe taking a look at the mods I have listed in my signature and seeing if it would be smarter to go the route I am thinking or I should trade in. Anything I have listed that I should shy away from? The payments definitely aren't as cheap as I thought on the loaded trucks. Thanks in advance guys.

My honest opinion is this......

I came from a 2015 crew cab Sierra with the 6.2L and 8 speed SLT that developed an awful clunking transmission that couldn't get fixed.

GM bought it back (over the course of several service visits and 6 months of nuisance) and I now have a 5.3L 6 speed SLT crew cab with a Range Device and a very slight but noticeable (liveable) vibration. For some reason, this truck doesn't have a smooth transition from V4 to V8 requiring the range device)

I miss the 6.2L but I like this truck better because it doesn't clunk and downshift hard. And the range device smooths it out quite a bit.

So the opinion is... if you have a good truck without issues, keep it. There will always be a new truck out there.

That's a question you ask yourself, not strangers on the internet. Lol.

I go back and forth so much these "strangers" are beginning to become helpful Lol that's why we're all here on the forum LOL

Thanks for the input! I recently drove a 6.0 2500 LTZ and the thing vibrated more than any truck I've driven yet. And the sloppy steering wasn't the best.

I use to trade often, as vehicles become more complex I found it wise to hang on to them. If a problem comes up I would trade. I becomes less stressful because you end up with more equity especially in the forth year and going up model is a breeze. Overtime you fiance less years for a better vehicle. When you get a good one you find you want to keep it much longer. I'm sure in my case getting older had something to do with it and hating to deal with car salesmen.

I love my 6.2 and I bet you will if you trade for one. I say do it. If this is crossing your mind then you really want one. The Ultimate decision is yours. Good luck.

1 year old you are going to take a big depreciation hit IMO. They may make your trade in number look great but they are going to making it up on selling number of new one. Somebody is going to pay that depreciation hit and that someone is you. Usually what they are selling is the payment to mask the depreciation hit IMO.

Maybe a dumb question, but what the heck is the "range device" ??

I have a '16 Z71 with the 5.3 and 6 speed but the 6.2 sounds like it would be more fun!! (o:

Never, EVER trade. You're going to lose money either way if it's only a year or so old, but you are always far better off to just sell it yourself.

You are basically giving away a few thousand for the "convenience" of the dealer handling your payoff. And they are putting that on the loan of your new truck, so you're still paying for it either way.

Might as well lessen the hit.

Sell it yourself, and get more than the dealer will give you. Pay the difference out of pocket if you're upside down. You'll make that money back and then some by not having your payment on your new one be higher, and not paying interest on that old money.

If your current truck fits your need, why are you looking to move up? Well if you got an itch in your pocket and looking to burn a hole, go for it. The rationale thing is to keep your current truck, but seeing how you are looking for justification to be impulsive, none of the rationale answers is what you are looking for.....go ahead and trade in.

Dealers love people with buyers remorse. Gee I know my truck is only a year or two old but I wish it had this and that ... Friendly dealer puts his arm around you and says I can help you with that son. lol Lets work the numbers on the payment but first go ahead and take it for a spin.
