Denali = High Country

SLT = LT/LTZ

SLE - LS

Looking @ the 2017 brochures

http://cdn.dealereprocess.com/cdn/brochures/chevrolet/2017-silverado2500hd.pdf

And I found this:

Sierra = WT

SLE = LT

SLT = LTZ

All Terrain = N/A

Denali = High Country (not sure if the content is identical on these 2 trim levels)

All terrain is a package on top of trim level...you can get an SLT to SLE All Terrain...or your could in 2014 when I bought mine anyway..

Chevy / GMC Built on the same assembly - 98 + % of the parts are identical

GMC MSRP about 5% more

Option packages are nearly identical - nothing dramatically different (like All Terrain has no Cooled Seats) so read up on what you want and get

my guess why GMC Sierra is rated slightly above the Chevy Silverado is just the way buyers respond to problems (should be the same)

The engineer who designed the current GMC Sierra said he wanted the front to look like a fist - I like it better than the Chevy, though Chevy looks good to.

Kinda stupid to sell the GMC as Professional Grade when the Chevy is really exactly the same (drive trane is 100% the same)

The Denali would be like the next step up from a High Country but they are both the highest trim between the two manufacturers

Is there a website that compares the two?

What is the Chevy version of the Denali?

What is the GMC version of the LTZ etc?

I like to go to the Chevy or GMC website and hit the build and price button. There you can compare the trim lines and see what is included with every trim level. Options change pricing and you can add options to make a lower trim model more expensive than a higher trim model. There you find that certain trim levels and options are only available on certain models. Denali and High Country only come in Crew Cabs, if you want a Double Cab, the highest trim level you can get is an LTZ or an SLT. I build a truck online and send that info to Sales Managers at several dealers, if they give me the deal I want, I order a truck from them. It is common knowledge that the higher models and options all add to the dealer profits and allow for bigger discounts. Many options are a bargain and cost much more to add on later, an example being the cab clearance lights. I like to order my vehicles because I get exactly what I want , I don't have to deal with a car mover employee breaking in my new truck for me as in the case when dealers trade vehicles to find a certain model. I wanted a Denali but my wife liked the High Country front end better and after sitting in both of them, I liked the High Country interior better. The Denali would have been 500.00 more on the factrory order, pretty cheap to get " Proffessional Grade" ha ha

In the old days (the 80s) the GMCs were about 300 bucks more here in Canada.

The marketers have really swung the GMC "brand". The name used to be thought of as the HD truck brand, GMC Generals, Brigadiers & Titans. Probably 1 of the rasons my father bought GMCs LOL

Part 2 is pretty loud as well. Video was shot in Ontario, hence the 80 kph speed limit sign.

Then the "cup holder crowd" took over & the concerns about noise instead of ruggedness took over. Not knowing that all the tire ODs were the same I ordered the 17" OOR tires (turned out to be Firestone Transforce ATs). They look like a steerer tire from a transport. "Heaven forbid that the tires make some noise."

Finally, yes once you remove the brand specific sheet metal & badging, there is nothing "underneath" that differentiates the brands. Having worked in the Oshawa Truck Plant during C/K, GMT400/800/900 production, I seen a few trucks go by.

That's not really correct.........The GMC branded trucks has actually offered a different drivetrain than Chevrolet depending on model. Some Denali level trucks have been their own animal for quite some time with the AWD offerings. The other trim levels are identical but to say all GM drivetrains are identical is both misleading and incorrect.

For years, GMC trucks and SUV's have offered interior options that were not and are not available with the Chevrolet brand.

GMC marketed as Professional Grade because they were a little fancier than the Chevrolet branded trucks, that is still true today between the newest model.

This is only true if you compare equal trim lines and factor in personal taste. Compare a GMC SLE to a Chevy High County . The Chevy is slightly fancier. Also people like my wife do not consider THREE GIANT LETTERS on the grill of a truck fancy. At least that is what I was told when I tried to buy a GMC truck.

Topic is 2500 HD

25 HD's for about a decade are ALL the same offering, 2 H,i 4 Hi & 4 Low and ALL select-able ...

early (2003-2007 ?) 1500's Denali's & SS had AWD (fulltime)

1500's come with variations depending on the many build selections

Right ?

Anyone else know of others ?

To sum it up...there are differences, some small, some large.

In the Chevy HD trucks...if the door trim strips, steering wheel trim look like shiny "aluminum" silver plastic, they are. GMC if they look aluminum they really are. Go touch one of each you will see and feel the difference. Now if its a "Sierra" trim? It will match a WT/LS/Custom Silverado.

GMC HD all get LED running lamps with HID headlights. Chevy HD are still projector halogen lows with reflector halogen high beams. This is really IMO, the biggest difference, especially those with any lighting concerns.

Paint colors. GMC upcharges for all but 3 colors: Cardinal Red, Summit White and Onyx Black. Stone Blue, Quicksilver, Pepperdust and Dark Slate are $395 extra cost, and Crimson Red Tintcoat is $495. Chevy only charges for Siren Red Tintcoat and Deep Ocean Blue ($495 and $395 respectively). The rest are no cost options.

Trailer Brake Controller: GMC it is a $0 cost option on HD. Chevy its $275.

As far as trims go...

GMC -- Chevy

Sierra = WT/LS

SLE = LT

SLT = LTZ

Now...High Country is weird, as it would equal Denali, yet Denali has things that High Country doesn't, like the full LCD cluster, so close but not quite Denali.

Now...for trim packages...

All Terrain HD = Z71 Custom Sport

Things like LT Plus, LT convenience, All Star, they come a couple options shy of HD SLE preferred, but do line up with the other GMC offerings.

In the short short of things, GMC will run a tad more than a Chevy. End of the day, what deal you get, and which one's looks you prefer and which ever makes you happy.

Seems to be some...muddling above...couldn't resist trying to clean it up a bit...
