Help! E-break pedal, is amp research steps the problem?

I've been having issues with my emergency brakes for my 2016 Silverado 1500. The e-break pedal sometimes will not released properly, sometimes it gets stuck, or makes you think it's released successfully but when you start driving it you can hear the breaks holding, and then the pedal releases successfully. Took it to the dealer thinking it was a defected emergency break assembly but dealer said it was the "aftermarket" amp research steps hitting the break cables so they could not fix it because it was aftermarket. Please advise me on what I can do to fix it. The steps did come with a protective rubber to protect the brake lines but that rubber has worn off within the last few months. I do not know if adding some rubber will still help the problem or not. I am not very auto mechanically inclined so please bare with me. I've recorded a video and posted it on YouTube for all of you to see. What do you guys suggest I do? Is this a big problem, an easy fix?

Def the steps. I'd call amp research and see if there's some sort of bracket or something to fix that. If that doesn't work just ship the step to me. Lol

Not a 100% sure, but it doesn't look like your using the e-brake relocation bracket. Did you do the install?

the bracket that came with my Amp steps is solving this issue for me.....I've never had the issue, so more like preventing it. AKA doing its job :)

Hey now, he has 10 posts and drives a "std cab" :rollin:

I am sure his name wasn't suppose to be Vacuuman either... you know, cause spelling is his strong point.

My local 4 wheel parts shop installed them for me, but I will bring this up to their attention today when I take it in. Can you send me a picture of how the bracket should look installed to compare?

Thank you. Do you know if the brake linkage is mounted against the frame to? In my video you see the linkage being slipped up from the steps hitting it when closing. If you can send me more media, maybe a video clip that will be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Get the bracket that is shown above. It mounts directly into an existing hole in the frame as shown in the picture above. My AMP kit came with it and it has been installed for almost 2 years on my truck without any e-brake problems.

Thanks, I'm in contact with amp and they are working with me, they are very helpful

UPDATE: I had the shop who installed the steps "4 wheel parts" take a second look. They installed a longer break cable bracket, and wahlah!! Like magic problem solved! Happy camper!

Good to hear. I like the progress made here.

A legitimate question was asked here, others chimed in with positive replies, OP went back to the shop and politely asked them about it, and they fixed it and all is good now.
