I have to believe it could conceivably happen to any vehicle with a fixed mast antenna.

Shame for sure.

It's a shame this happened, regardless of the manufacturer. I still don't understand why the Silverado has a regular antenna and a shark fin. My 12 Camaro has only 1 antenna, a shark fin. Is the reception that much better that we need to require 2 separate ones?

Now hidden in the trunk spoiler I believe. It was designed for mid-year 11 softtop and added to coupes the next year.

GM tried a one antenna setup in the 2009-2011 Aveos; and here is the result of that:

they called it a "Multi Band Antenna" and as you can see, it stuck out like a VERY sore thumb. it ran the regular AM/FM radio, the XM radio, and the OnStar GPS antenna. cars that had the OnStar Deleted (like my own 2010 sedan) have the radio antenna integrated into the rear glass if they are a Sedan (and its an EXPENSIVE piece of glass at $500 through GM!), and have a small whip antenna where the Multi Band Antenna would go if it were a Hatchback.
