Imagine walking to your truck carrying something very heavy. Now imagine getting to your truck and swapping your foot under the rear bumper and your tailgate opening, with the already controlled decent we have.

Boom! Mind blown! Chevy engineers, I have spoken

Since these sensors probably can't go through metal (which is all that is back there) the sensor will have to be added externally to the hitch or bumper. So imagine this, you are actually using the truck for truck stuff which requires you to leave the pavement, you drag your rear end through a ditch and tear off $800 (guesstimate) of useless crap.

I already didn't want the back up sensors (camera is much more useful especially hitching a trailer) as that is another added expense if it ever has to be replaced, but GM deemed it part of a required package. This is about as useless and lazy as the remote opening tailgate on the Fords...

How about remote opening doors or automatic seat belts? Or maybe a seat that swivels and drops out of the truck to normal chair height?

Or better yet have the truck sit on the ground when you put it in park so us sawed off five foot f**k all can get in without a trampoline running start.

I'd rather have a tail gate release button on my key fob, like a car has a trunk release button. I know there's ways out there to do this, but wish it was a GM factory option.

Screw you guys, I'm taking my ball somewhere else to play then

I think it's a great idea.

This site used to be full of helpful members that were knowledgeable, offered helpful trouble shooting suggestions, provided useful documents and links, helped find solutions to problems, defects and complaints, etc...

Now it's just a bunch of take your problem to the dealer, all manufacturers have issues, don't modify what GM gave you, why would you want to change something, pay to play, cranky old if you don't share my view you're an idiot that can't drive a 2wd in snow without ABS or Traction Control, but don't try to disable them... :sigh:

Meanwhile...

...what happened to the ignore user option?

I remember those days.

VAIS has a kit that can be had. Been out there since early 2015. Intent was to be used on lift gate vehicles vs down folding tailgates, but an unlatching actuator is simply that, doesn't matter to it what movement comes after release. I think they were rolling them out in the 275-300 range when it was releasing.

Funny those knocking trucks that don't "go offroad" I've worked to death and I mean literally put them to pasture a few trucks with mass material hauls, heavy machinery, and tradesman work and not one time did they touch the dirt. A truck doesn't need dirt to be justified. I assure you the masses not in dirt far out way those that are and those trucks are in fact earning.
