Engine died

1995 K1500 5.7 , Drove truck around town, stopped at home depot, truck would not start. Have it home now, turn key everything comes on inside but nothing from the engine bay.

No noise, no clicking...nothing. Battery is fully charged, changed starter and still no noise from the engine bay. All fuses in fuse block are good, both inside cab and engine bay

Thanks.

When it first happened at HD I did notice that the Eng1 fuse was blown, replaced it, hit the key again and the fuse blew again. When I go it home I replaced the Eng1 fuse again and still nothing and now it's not blowing.

eng-1 has the o2 heater..

biggest monster on that circuit that I could decipher in a diagram.

Are you saying it won't crank at all, or it will crank but won't start?

If it cranks but won't start it sounds like the fuel pump died. When you turn the key to 'run' do you hear the pump prime? If the pump is good, when you turn the key to the run position you will hear the pump run for a second or two and then stop. Just had the pump on my 98 Yukon give up the ghost, they do it all of a sudden like, generally no warning.

If it won't crank then I'd guess the starter gave up the ghost. Also recently replaced the starter on the same above mentioned truck, it quit without notice as well and when it did no sound from it at all other than a very slight click from the solenoid. New starters for these are unfortunately not cheap. But, hey if you need one what do you do?

AC compressor is locked up. Pull the belt and try to start...

I know it sounds crazy but I am someone that changed out a starter on a 1997 chevy in a walmart parking lot only to find that it was simply the AC compressor locked up. that is some chit you NEVER forget

If it's not making ANY noise at all I'd suspect something else, even with a locked up AC compressor you'd think you'd hear the starter trying to do something. You mentioned blowing fuses a few times and then now nothing at all and no more blown fuses either. Sounds like you have or HAD a short in the wires or connections, probably somewhere down by or near the starter. Maybe the wire in question has now completely burned off, hence the no more fuses blowing and the no nothing else you now have? You may have fried the contacts in the solenoid? Stuff can get pretty hot and burn in short order when there's a short. The starters on those are pretty easy to get at and drop, I'd be taking it down for a closer look at things.

When I got it home, I replaced the fuses and put a new starter in. I have 12v going to the starter but I still hear nothing when I turn the key, no clicks nothing. After it stops snowing I'll troubleshoot some more.

HT6 ac compressor it is a common failure. Most people are a bit incredulous that an AC Compressor can produce these symptoms but you just have to have experienced it to believe it I guess.......................

Just so we're all on the same page here, are you saying you're now on new starter #2 and still nothing?

Does your 95 have the security system key. You may have an issue with the module that controls that.

Just a suggestion I know my 1991 had it.

What your truck is doing is exactly the same as my dads 2005 Colorado did when the security system failed on his.
