Thanks only issue I had was the plugs kept coming out of the extension.

Will work in it more later but it's working.

Make sure to push the pins all the way in till they can't go anymore.

Not to highjack this topic, but I've been looking at the same dash cam you have. I do have a couple of questions and hopefully you could clear them up;

- How is the camera holding up in the sunlight? I live in SC and the sun is so strong here and I'm concerned about it.

- Does it record audio in the cab? If so, can it be shut off?

- Hows the picture during the day and at night?

- Is the camera easy to remove from the base?

- How did you wire it in?

I'm in Wisconsin, so I don't have to worry too much about the sun... That said, it does get hot. It doesn't seem to affect it. I believe mine has a battery, and I would probably buy one with a capacitor next time. I haven't had problems, but I know what heat does to batteries.

It can record audio in the cab, but has a mute button. It remembers the setting after restarting. I usually leave it on, as I don't review it often... If I needed it, I could remove the audio, but couldn't add it later if it were muted.

It's very easy to remove from the base. It just slides off.

I wired it with my radar detector. There's a hardwire kit that I have in the driver fuse panel It's on a fuse tap for RAP power. The wire is just run along the headliner.

How do you like the 360? I have been using a first generation Max now for about 4 years. Was using a 9500ix and the Passport IQ before this one.

I really like it. It seems to do a great job.

I came from the 9500i, so for me it was a large upgrade. From what I understand, the 360 is based on the max line of detectors. I don't know if it's worth it to upgrade from that. Really depends. I rarely have it going off around town, so when it's buzzing, I know there's a cop around and to check my speed.

Around me, a lot of police drive with their radar on, which does give me a lot of lead time. I am not on the highway too often, and if I am, I know where the like to sit with their laser, where this is much less effective. I can say I've been alerted to laser before being checked, but I've had it a lot more often where it goes off as I'm being checked. Just a limitation of the technology. Waze and this on the highway is very effective. It's the cops that are moving and using radar that waze has a hard time with, and this detector does very well there. Waze is great for the ones sitting using laser. You can see how this is a great combo.

Frustrating part with Escort is as soon as you buy a $500.00 plus detector, they have an upgraded one in two months, and you can't update yours with that software, kind of a racket.

Running a little over 1 year+ w/ 36k miles of traveling, I've spotted every single cop from 1 mile+ out at minimum with their radars on. Have even spotted a couple lasers before I could see the cop car, as they were hitting cars 1/2-3/4 of a mile in front of me.

Especially with the free GPS service via Android or the $10 fee for the iPhone version from 3rd parties. Basically means no false alerts and tells you of other alerts in the area.

Plus they've almost perfected the ability to ignore false alerts. Plus it's cheaper than $500 and you'd only have to spend that once, since there is only one model. It's not that I don't like the V1 itself, it's actually the lack of GPS that stops me. I know I can hook it up to my phone and it can record and filter false alert locations, but I really dislike doing that. It means I always have to have my phone on me and the gps running if I'm going around town. Gps uses the battery, and I don't want to have to plug in for power every time I get in the truck. Maybe, just maybe, I would consider them if they had a gps module I could plug in. Not my phone.

With the escort, I give up a very small amount of capability for what I consider a get-in-and-go solution. The gps filtering is something I value every day on short and medium trips. I would only hook up my phone on road trips where the benefit is likely less. Now that they've got the directional arrows, they're very close in performance. The laser and radar performance has been stellar for me as well with my escort. That part isn't the part that's lacking for me.

I don't like escorts app, I admit. I would probably use it were it free. But, it's not. Point to valentine there. To me, the database is the biggest difference, and the most valuable. If escort acted like you just spent half a grand and tied in their app for free, I bet tons of people would use it. With that, there'd be so much more data. The value would be there. As it is now, I'm only getting data from others who have paid, and I'm sure there's a lot of people like me who feel they've paid enough for the detector itself and don't feel like paying to build their database. If anything, they should sell a "subscription" model detector for less where you have to pay for the service. And a premier model which includes lifetime access. And that's something I would only start after having the app free for a few years to build up the user base. Get all of your existing detector users on there to draw in the new people. I would love a database of false alerts, especially on the freeway through Illinois, where they purposely set up millions of fake radar emitters along the highway. (Usually in signs along the highway, not businesses off the highway) This is where a database would shine.

The V1 is close, just not quite there for me. I don't road trip too often, so the database is my big gripe with my 360. But it's a gripe I only deal with a couple times a year. I supplement the database issue with Waze. A large cache of people are marking cops who don't even have detectors.

I have had both radar detectors and was a very loyal supporter of escort for years, i probably own almost every version they made since I started driving. The last one was 9500 series in blue I really like it a lot, especially the blue led display was very easy on the eyes at nigh. Yes the gps was a nice feature but what pissed me off were two things, every time they came out with some thing new you had to buy a new detector and the GPS feature.

Let me goto into the GPS feature that you speak so highly of it is the worse part of the detector. I locked out a signal a few days earlier as I come back into the same spot not a single beep from it,the bam state troopers not one but two running a speed trap needles to say that was the last day I trusted it.

Put it on eBay sold it for almost what I paid for it, and bought the V1. The v1 is much better at detecting alerts sooner and telling you the direction plus if you add on the Bluetooth option the details of the alert are even better then Esctort's. If you use the Bluetooth you can blacken out the display an shows on your phone, very nice for the not friendly radar states with the blend mount mine is almost invisible to the eye.

But the real thing I like about it is I have only updated mine twice in almost 10'years.

Also I have only gotten pulled over twice since I owned mine and both were my fault,one I forget to turn it on and second time I want in a rental and left it home.

All I can say is you have to but what you like and trust, the V1 has had better ratings by CR and Road and track, and cost value for me about total of 600 including the updates over 10 years. The number of escorts radar detectors I owned in about the same time frame was easily double some were roughly about 1200-1300 dollars.

So after hours and hours I found out that the positive is going to be purple with the white stripe and your negative is going to be black with a white stripe; you can do this if you are hard wiring with those amazon kits that come with negative and positive. The valentine 1 looks good like that!

Back on topic though - how is the Max 360?

I'm in the market for an upgraded radar detector. My Escort 9500ix is showing it's age and I'd like a better mounting option than the crappy suction cup options for this particular radar.
