Hail damage help

Hey guys,

I have a 2015 Silverado LTZ crew that got hit by hail last night. Tried reading some old threads on here about repairs but what do you guys think? Paintless dent or replace body panels? Damage is to hood, roof, few smaller areas. Was golf ball and pea size hail.

My next question is...once its fixed, do I trade in or keep the truck. Is the damage going to show in a few years or do dealerships look at hail damage when trading? Just trying to figure out what I should do. thanks

theres teams of guys that travel around the country to repair damage after hail storms... spend some time on the google and im sure you can find something helpful.

Yeah I've read about PDR. Theres an awesome guy that's pulled a dent or two out for me already about 2 hours away. Just wondering if I do the PDR, will there be backlash from it either in my carfax, or will it ever pop up or rust...etc. Just hoping to make sure I make a good call. Can replace the body panels, a few are deep. We had golf ball or larger hail.

I live in Colorado so hail is common. PDR has a limit to the size of the dent I think. They key is a good body shop no matter what type of repair.

As far as down the road, the quility of the repair again IMO.

It will probably show on a car fax. :happysad:

That's what I figured...deep ones might take more work. Shoot. I was wondering about the car fax thing. Wonder if I should have the dealership repair vs. a private body shop..in case I'd want to trade in some day :/ I don't know. I love my truck

I use a PDR guy local who IMHO is awesome. He's taken some pretty big ones out for me. A black bird hit the side of the box. Creases seem to be more important than size...to a limit. My repair does not show on the Carfax. He is associated with the body shop I use and that to a dealership but the body shop while owed by the same person isn't part of the dealership. Poly-tics. LOL.

Mine is a 2015 WT1. He mentioned that the steel GM used in most of the truck doesn't stretch much which makes it a good deal easier to do. Hood however is alloy. That does stretch allot. That will be harder but you won't know until he looks at it. Could be looking at a combination of body shop repair/replace on the hood and PDR for the rest.

As far as down the road. Depends on the damage to the paint. Did it crack or was it pierced? If not it shouldn't be an issue.

No cracks or piercing at this point, haven't washed it yet to see. Guessing just dents. Guessing also that PDR will take most of them out but I'm worried about what it will look like in a few years. I can't afford to just upgrade every year. I'm pretty anal about it too, its black and it shows every dent.

You get the right PDR guy and you won't know it's ever been hurt.

i had a PDR guy do two door dings on mine and its nearly perfect. Only when you are actively looking at it when its clean can you see a slight change in the reflection as you change the angle your looking from. But if you go through insurance it'll show up no matter what. I say contact a PDR guy and get an estimate first. then move up from there if needed
