Kicker Sub Question

Should have just mailed me the sub Phil. Lol!!

While I'm sure it sounds decent, the kicker option is just too much for me. I'm thinking of making a full length box for a single 12 and would sound killer.

I made a mdf/fiberglass box for a shallow 12". It goes from the driver side rear seat edge to the other side of the little bump between the two seats. I built it this size because I wanted to keep a little storage under the back seat. I have a sealed enclosure with the jl audio 12tw3 shallow 12". It hits very hard and tight and sounds good.

I have decided to build a full length ported enclosure for under my back seat. Don't get me wrong, the sealed box sounds great and it is loud but I have this feeling that if I put that JL 12" in a ported box it is going take it to another level. So when I get another 10-15 hours it will be done.

I don't have the full length box you are talking about(yet) but my 3/4 length box hits hard. So you my friend are on the right track.

I like that powered kicker sub a lot but it just won't be enough. I'm glad it worked out for you OP.

Yup. Kinda sounds garbled on the first chime. This is a known issue and typical.

Well I'm glad it's not just me. Thanks!

I've never had a ported box before, but I am thinking about it this time. I have my old Audiobahn aw1251t wired to 2 ohms now. RF p3001 amp should power that just fine. I was taking measurements last night and a full length box was around 1.3-1.5cf. That would sound killer. I just need some mdf, supplies and a lc2i.

Nice. If I can get that much air space behind my JL ported it will pound.

Also just a thought, check out the lc6i at a similar price (amazon) for our trucks with the 6 speaker locations. Or even the lcq1 with line out converter and eq. I don't know how far you are going with your system, I kinda wished I woulda considered one of these when I got my lc2i. It is small and compact though, so that's nice.

I don't plan on putting an amp to the door speakers. I never have before, so I'm not missing out on anything. I just want some bass back. I've had subs in my vehicles for the past 16yrs. Lol. I see the lc2i for around 60-65. 6i is 120-125, and the lcq1 is out of the question at $300+. Im not going for sq or spl, so I think I should be fine. I always have a budget to work with.

I'll probably have mine for sale soon, if anyone is looking.

So, I uninstalled this last night. Drove the kid to school this morning, both of us missed the bass already. LOL, so once I get pics I'll get it posted up FS.

Been a little while since I've had a sub installed in a vehicle, but am interested in the Kicker system I see so many posts about.

Does anyone have this with the stock speakers/sound system? Just curious if it's a waste to get this but keeping all the stock speakers and such in my truck. I have a 2015 Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab without the Bose system.

Just looking for some feedback on if it's not worth getting it if I keep everything else stock.

Thanks very much.

I have the kicker sub in my 15 crew without bose. I love it and it was worth the money.

I just picked up the whole Kicker setup with the door amp and sub from Banner, and I'm impressed. First off, Banner's pricing is way cheaper than anything I've found.

The system install was a breeze but as many have said, feeding the wires thru the firewall grommet was the biggest pain. Even that wasn't too bad all things considered.

The setup totally changed the dynamics of the factory system. I will say I'm shocked that sub thumps as hard as it does. Sure you can get a bigger and badder setup but this system is so clean.

One question I have is, what is a good replacement for the door speakers? I'm looking for something that is plug and play.
