They did replace the DEF tank/system because one of the heaters went out in it under warranty, (common issue) so I do think the DEF issue was resolved, but as for the DPF- they kept saying it was working normal, which I said was hogwash because I had a 08 Duramax with the DPF only that regened every 400-500 miles, as it should have, not every 130-230 miles like my 12 is doing. And the regen is being done at consistant highway speeds of 65 MPH or faster so I am driving it as it should be for a regen, and just like I did with my 08. They did several service regens and when they did, I could get almost 200 miles between regens for a little while. Service regen is when they have the GM Tech II tool put it into a service regen which has it at 2500 RPM for 30 miin or so while parked. They eventually said I just need to drive it like a bat out of hell when it is in regen mode which I take issue with, It should regen properly under normal driving conditions of 55 MPH or faster. I shouldn't have to run it at 2500-3500RPM for 30 min to get the DPF clean!

This is one of the reasons I got rid of my LML

Went with a 6.0 gasser , love it

Ford and Dodge have issues with their DEF/DPF systems too so I wouldn't leave GM over my DPF/DEF issues.

Oh I agree...if not more than we do. Ram especially more issues.

If I build on my next house outside of my current county in CO, my truck will be deleted and factory power still intact.

dam, I have a 2016 Denali HD gasser and was thinking of trading to a 2017 F250. I can get a pretty good deal.. What says you guys in this thread?

I have no doubt that Ford and Dodge makes great trucks. All have their advantages and disadvantages. Power train wise though, you will not find a finer and more reliable unit than the Duramax/Allison. But if you do go with a Ford, you will still get a good truck. Would I ever get one? No, I don't think so.

Dumb headlights, look of 4 beams driving lights, at night makes everyone think the highs are on.

Test drove this truck today, what a beast. The inside of the Sierra is nicer...but this truck is sweet.

I wonder if they argue about what tires fit on the GM trucks over on the Ford forums. I honestly don't care for the look of the Ford trucks whatsoever. It doesn't matter what tires fit...it's still a Ford. :)

^^Same here, even if I was NOT a HD GM truck owner that loved & had to own a ford SD... sorry to say they are downright butt ugly to look at. my .02 worth.

I'm not a fan of the headlights and taillights of the F150/250/350 myself. So that alone would rule out me getting one :) But they are still nice trucks otherwise.

I think the f150 head/tail light are sweet. The new f250's need a bit of refining. Our HD's are the best all around in my opinion.

Take a look underneath both to decide who's engineering team you want standing behind your truck.

That must be because it out pulled the DODGE,FERD up the IKE which were both rated to TOW something like 31,000+ and poor old Chevy maxes out at 20k something? Numbers are meaningless when you pull a trailer weighing 21K up and down the IKE

Im a GM guy mostly, in the 40 years of pulling I went by advertised TQ ratings and what the hot shot drivers in my area were driving. Most were fords then Dodge Ram. I tried GM once in 94 to pull a camper trans problems. My 1/2 tons were GMs my work trucks were Ford diesel, some Rams. Tried GM diesels, cars, trucks, didn't work out maybe different now.
