If I understand correctly if you use the plug and play harness on these power adjustment and heat will work but, not any lighting? I.E. if I don't care about the lighting the mirrors are plug and play?

Yeah the harness that comes with is plug and play for just the mirror adjustment and heat function. But if you want the clearance, turn signal, or backup light to work you gotta do some wiring.

My PnP Harnesses are Plug and Play for Cargo Lamp, Turn Signal, and Clearance lamps too.

If you get an aftermarket set of mirrors where they don’t land all the wires into 18-Pin connector, thats where some minor pinning is needed. I have solutions for almost all scenarios both in the PnP option and a lower cost DIY Kit option.

I can't figure out how to call or email this guy on getting tow mirrors. I just want to get the right parts. Can someone help me ???

Caleb, I saw a couple of PMs. This is the best way as I don’t get notifications from thread replies. Hope I answered your questions.

Well I got the wires run to the drivers seat. I just need to figure out where to plug stuff in. That I'm not sure where to get turn signals, backup and running lights. Could I just tap into the trailer runings and whatnot fuses in the engine bay? Seems like the easiest if those are running while the trucks going.

when i did mine all the wires you need are at the truck side plug in the jam, turn, cargo, running, puddle etc.  all the trucks are wired to that point for all door options from what i found.

The LEDs are burning out?

yes. the outside 6 are slowing dieing on both sides, they are flickering. i pulled the kick panels and un hooked them for now. i am going to try and get a set of lights and build my own boards and leds for them then swap them out.

This is true for mid 2015+. 2014 and early 2015 (2015 trucks without the AVF RPO) will not have pins 9, 11, and sometimes 41 and the door jam (cabin side)

Got everything working. turns out some of the wires i ran in the door got cut by the door. But you splice into the brown and black bcm for the turn signals. Pin 2 for the brown bcm for the left front turn signal, while I think it is pin 3 on the black one for the right turn signal. Reverse light has pin 26 on the bcm. Then I just ran the last cable to the fuse box and added a fuse tap for the trailer parking lamp as apparently I got the mini fuse tap instead of the micro fuse tap.

You snap any pictures of this by chance?

Did you run the passenger mirror wiring into the drivers door?

Guys - If your are mid 2015 and later, these circuits for tow mirrors are at the door jamb. I provided a list of terminals to do this easily.

IF - You are early 2015 or 2014, then you’ll need to hardwire to the BCM/X61A Junction Box/Under Hold X50A Fuse Block.

If you need the actual locations, I can provide the manual for the RZY install. It shows all the locations to land wires.

If you DO NOT want to install the clearance lamps like recommended and want a work around, there is a spot in the door panel you can tap to just to get clearance Lamp to illuminate at night.

    • have you stuck with dealer oil changes since then? I made the same switch after getting tired of crawling around under the truck, but I’ve found some dealers are way better than others about getting you in quickly. Curious if yours has been good about scheduling or if you’ve had to look elsewhere for quicker turnaround.
    • Thank you.   I am set on a 3.0 Duramax as my previous truck with a Ford Ecoboost had just as many, if not more, "common" issues.  Cam phasers, timing chain issues, 10-speed valve body and CDF drum, emissions issues, etc.  So I figured, why not get 2x the fuel mileage (these things got 27+mpg on every mixed city/highway test drive I put them through) and better towing capability with resale value to boot?   My minimum, shortest trip will be 50 miles 1-way and I regularly go out of state with a travel trailer.  I'm planning on using this for a marketing/event promotion business also, which would require regular towing of trailers for bands, DJs, sound and lighting gear, along with my personal camera gear for filming events.   Looked at other trucks in the $30k+ price range but the issues seem to be everywhere, plus too many with gaudy mods.  I'm literally sticking with RWD trucks because they tend to be actually used as trucks, vs. the 4x4 models I've seen with unsafe lifts, huge tires, and general mods that would affect reliability (I'm wondering if some of them were tuned, hence the aggressive throttle response and hard shifting).   So my goal is to find a stock, 3.0 with 1 or 2 owners, in good physical condition, and decently well maintained.  Can't seem to find that up here, everything in the $27-30k range has had multiple owners, smoke smell, issues, or body damage.  Or the ridiculously modified trucks with 80k miles for under $27k but lots of problems...
    • That’s pretty tough Grumpy. I reread the previous few posts. They all reference oil changes. Much like your last thread. In my humble opinion it keeps things interesting.
    • Engine Wear and ISO 4406   1.) Cold Starts. 2.) High Particle Count. 3.) Low operating temperature viscosity and high low temperature cranking viscosity. 4.) They are manufactured within the engine. Both wear debris and amalgamation of degradation products and combustion driven soot (worse in GDI). 2.) They are ingested via intake air. Ever hear the best oil filter is a good air filter? 3.) They are entrained in the fuel. 4.) This one is insidious. They are introduced in 'fresh oil'. 5.) They are introduced during the oil change.   ISO 4406 is the test that measures and quantifies the combine effects of all of the above particle related issues. You can mitigate your way into multiples of engine life by being attentive to them all.    https://www.hyprofiltration.com/blog/is-new-oil-clean   (from the link above)    [Quote] What Is the Recommended ISO 4406 Cleanliness Code for New Oil?   A good upper limit for new oil cleanliness is 16/14/11 (ISO 4406). Typical new oil usually has ISO codes of 19/17/15 or worse, which is far too dirty for sensitive components. This can be a major cause of degradation and premature failure.
