Lights On Indicator

The green one on the instrument display. Which lights does it actually indicate are on?

The winky looking thing that looks like two headlights sort of?

Lets have a read of the owners manual:

Lamps On Reminder

This light comes on when the exterior lamps are in use. See Exterior Lamp Controls.

There are separate indicators for your low beams & for the fog lights. The fog lights show lines angling down.

And of course the high beam indicator is blue.

I believe no indicator is on for DRL.

Exterior lamps would include headlamps. Would they not? Does the indicator I asked about indicate that the headlights are on?

It comes on for the park lights and for both headlights/park together. Lamps On Reminder

This light comes on when the exterior lamps are in use.

Yes it means the headlights are on for sure. It may even come on when you turn on the parking lights.

This is not a contradiction? If it comes on when the parking lights are on then the headlights are not necessarily on as well.

Lol I meant to test this on my way to work this morning but I totally forgot plus the sun was out enough to keep my DRLs on so didn't even think to flip the knob to parking lights.

I'm gonna go with:

-Yes, the green light indicator comes on with parking lamps

-Yes, the green light indicator comes on with headlights

So --- it's not necessarily a headlights on indicator, just means something is on.

Exterior lamps. As stated above, if you take your headlamp switch and turn it to the park lamp position, the light will illuminate. If you turn it to the headlamp position, the light will be on.

It's the auto setting I'm wondering about. The indicator comes on but doesn't indicate what exactly is on.

Does it come on as soon as you put the truck in Drive with the light switch in AUTO? If so, its on to indicate the DRL lamps are on.

Drl's are always on in Canada while truck is in Drive The green indicator comes on when normal full headlight and taillight operation is occurring. My light on sensor is sensitive and will turn lights on in mildly cloudy or overcast conditions.

Hers an idea for you. Since it looks like you are still confused. On a bright sunny day with nothing blocking the truck overhead and the headlight switch in auto. Have someone sit in the drivers seat with the truck running. While you stand outside and look at the lights that are on. NOW have the person put the truck in drive and look again. Also pay attention to the indicator on the dash. NOW take a towel and cover the light sensor on the top center of the dash. Wait a minute or 2 and the headlights should come on (switch still in auto). Look at the dash indicator light. Now go back to the outside of the truck and have the person inside put it back in drive. Now look at the lights that are on. These steps should tell you what you need to know.

It comes on whenever the running lights are on and doesn't matter if the headlights are on or not.

If you have factory fog lights, leave the headlight switch in auto and turn the fog lights on. That indicator and the fog light indicator will come due to the running lights turning on. The headlights will still be off (GMC SLT or Denali) or the DRL's will still be on.
