LED taillight upgrades?

I'm looking to upgrade my taillights ('14 Sierra 1500 SLE) to either LED bulbs or a complete LED tail light housing. Bulbs will be cheaper but a bit more work to avoid hyperflash. A complete housing will be easier but I haven't really seen many that I like.

Any input is appreciated

Thanks, I'll look into those. Any ideas for front turn signals? It's pretty tight in there...when I went to LEDs on my Jeep TJ I swapped out the flasher relay for one that took care of the hyperflash.

I'm in the same boat, hate the aftermarket LED lights but want LED bulbs. Really considering tackling the backs and doing a YouTube video of it.

Front will require a resistor as well. The big mystery is where to mount these resistors so they don't melt/damage anything. Easy in the rear, not so much in the fronts especially if you have an hid kid.

I did LED turn signals in mine. Wiring in the capacitors isn't too difficult.

You have to make sure to attached to metal (gets pretty warm) you can really splice in to anywhere on the cord doesn't need to be right next to the headlight

Did my drivers side tonight, this combination of LEDs and resistors worked perfect for my 14 Sierra. I'm doing a little experiment with this loctite tape. It says affective up to 250 F so should do the job.

Instruction: replace OEM bulbs with LEDs. Use a t-tap to connect the resistor to the green wire and the black wire going to each bulb. Boom you're done. I added some length on to the resistors so I had plenty of room to move stuff around.

Not really that much brighter but the crisp on and off is really what I wanted.

Get the resistors from vleds.com. The pigtails are pretty long and give you more flexibility when installing them. Plus, they do not get as hot as the standard gold resistors do. For the front, I mounted one just above the second battery tray. For passenger side, I mounted it inside the fender where the intake sucks in air through. I used some 3m super strength body molding tape.

Thanks for the write up. I will be doing this hopefully soon. Waiting on the side of the road for a tow.....hopefully its something minor and I can get my truck back soon so I can do this install. Will order parts later. How do the LED bulbs look with lights on and flashers or turn signal on?
