Hello GM Tech(s),

My '16 Sierra came with XM Radio and I would like to upgrade it to SiriusXM. Is this possible?

Aren't those now the same thing now? I thought Sirius and XM merged. Don't you already have SiriusXM in your truck?

What exactly do you think you want that you don't currently have?

Nope my truck only has "XM" not "SiriusXM"

Where are you located? In the US, XM and Sirius are the same...in fact the company is called SiriusXM. Maybe you're referring to different plans offered??

OK - I see what you're asking. SiriusXM is one company offering two types of service - XM and Sirius. If your radio is only XM, I'm not aware of an easy upgrade to change a factory GM XM to Sirius. Go to the SiriusXM website and see f there is an XM subscription plan that gets you what you want. Good luck.

SiriusXM is the company name now since they merged. But in the vehicle from the factory you still either get XM or Sirius. I believe the only SiriusXM radio you can get is aftermarket where it's a separate unit to add to a vehicle that didn't come with either Sirius or XM. Basically like if you put a GPS unit in a non GPS factory vehicle, it would be it's own small unit that you mount on the dash or windshield.

My '17 manual says SiriusXM:
