How to remove bumper step plastic

So, someone hit my truck in a store parking lot. I ordered the piece to fix it and thought it would be a quick job, maybe a couple of screws. So today I finally had time to fix it and it seems a little more complicated than that. So what is the trick? Surely I dont have to drop the bumper down do I? Am I overthinking this? Please help. I am new to this forum so if a thread about this already exists please direct me to it. Thank you.

From the looks of this it appears that there may be two fasteners/clips on the bottom side of the insert. Can you see anything from under/inside?

Two or three screws I can get to but a couple I can't. It really seems much more difficult than it needs to be. Too bad the person who hit me left the scene and no one saw them.

For anyone that is looking to do the same thing, I followed this guide and it worked great! The plastic step can be bent downward at the top after yo have removed the screws. This will give you access to the bolt that is inside the bumper and damn near impossible to get to from any other means.

Do you have a pic of where that bolt is located? The only thing I see is a screw that holds the end tab / slot in place on the step.

Unfortunately I don't. That truck is now totaled and in the vehicle graveyard
