Free oil change's

I have a 2015 Silverado I bought 2/16 I took it in today for my 3rd free oil change. The service writer told me this would be my last free oil change. I thought this is not correct but it's not the person I normally deal with so I just blew it off. So when the service is completed my Normal guy tells me it's ready. I asked him about this and he said he would check he said this ones not free I only get 2 because I bought the truck in 16 not 15 its based off of when the truck is sold not the model year. Anyone heard this BS. He said he would give me the discount rate on the oil change and then charged me for 9qts of oil

Should go by model year, not when it was bought. Same as the warranty, the warranty doesn't start until it's bought the first time. Also unless it's a typo, it should only be 8 quarts and not 9. In the book it may say 8 1/2 which is probably why they may say, but they did revise it to 8 quarts in '15 even for the '14s.

It goes by in service date of your warranty, so when the warranty was activated, you would have from that date, and then 2 years or 24k miles to that date. Its not based on the year you bought the truck.

When he enters your VIN in the system it tells him how many free oil changes you have left.

That's what I thought too. The other 2 oil change tickets said 8qts. I tried to pm gm customer service and it said they couldn't receive any new messages. Tried to live chat with GM customer service and it keeps disconnecting.

On my first free oil change they dented my tailgate, that needed replacement. On my third oil change they dinged my door. On my fourth oil change they didnt tighten the oil filter properly leaking oil all over my undercarriage. Now that I do all my oil changes with a full synthetic oil and Wix filter I have no more problems with the damage dealer! It truly is not worth the free oil change. I'm looking at a new truck now and if it happens I wont be taking any free oil changes.....

Had all 4 done on my truck with out issue, rotated my tires too (that is a pain in the driveway) and took care of any warranty items I had. Did my first oil change myself now that I used up the free ones, dang near over filled my oil pan draining it there is so much in there. The free ones were nice (it is documented and uses the correct oil), some people have issues but most don't. I wouldn't pay more for it but free maintenance is great and allows me to do other things (I just drop it off instead of wait).

Change your own oil...............it ain't rocket science!!!!!

You know it done properly then.............at least if you've got minimal skills.

I had 3 done on my '14 when I had it. I always do my own oil changes and tire rotations but I figure it's free so what the hell. Never had an issue so it depends on the dealer. I only did it because it was free, I sure as hell wouldn't let someone else do a job I can easily do and pay to have it done.

This my first new vehicle and also the first time in my 30+ years of driving I have not changed my own oil. I have always mounted and balanced my own tires and did all my own work. Now I don't have access to a shop and the oil changes and tire rotations were included in the price of the truck. I thought what the heck I will take advantage of them.

Use to be your first 4 services but I believe that changed in 2016 vehicles, except with CPO vehicles it works a little different. New vehicles are now 2 services which is fine because I will do my own after that point

I also thought that the number of free oil changes was based on the model year of your vehicle. It is something that should have been stated when you purchased the vehicle. I am up for my first non-free oil change. I have been very pleased with my dealership so I will probably go there. In the past, I often went to quick lube places. You sit in your car, drink coffee and read a newspaper while the work is being done. They keep you informed through every step of the process and you hear them calling out as they double check their work. This for me is a good compromise between your truck going behind closed doors having unknown things happen and the alternative of doing it yourself.

GM IVH only shows how many have been done.

    • WTI futures / speculation is just that. WTI futures <> current 4-7% inflation and national average gas price over $4.00/gallon.   The spot price, at delivery, is currently $87-$95/barrel which is why gas prices remain high.   Edit: oH mY gOd mEnTaL BrEaKdoWn In tHE pOsT aBOve mInE. • He does, actually. In another unrelated video he mentions the president called him in the middle of the night to relay some information on a cause (religious based) that he's invested in. Glenn expressed concern that another leftist administration could wield too much power with some procedure the Pentagon was using, classifying certain religions a certain way. Being that he is LDS (Latter Day Saints), he gets hate all the time from ALL over the political spectrum, so he's invested in this. Trump called him back at 5AM to tell him he had made some changes to that classification.   So, yes, they are and have been in contact regularly since the start of the administration. Glenn, of course, always asks his permission before discussing anything on the air.   I already spent an hour or more just searching for these videos. I may have my numbers wrong - I'm not a numbers guy. It may have been a MILLION barrels, not 1.5. The point is, our President, by his actions, gives a crap about America, and US - this is completely OPPOSITE the actions of the prior administration who projected hatred for anyone who wasn't following the left's edicts in lock-step.   Remember, they called January 6th an "Insurrection", when there were ZERO weapons among the crowd, undercover FBI agents agitating the crowd, along with paid leftists acting as aggressors, egging the crowd on in an attempt to whip everyone into a frenzy. It's all been proven.  Pelosi refused Trumps request for more National Guard troops. This smells 100% like an inside job for those with critical thinking skills. Only a handful of guys in the crowd got wrapped up in that, thankfully, but EVERYONE was searched out based on cell phone data, and charges were brought against many. And 6 or so people were locked up and left in solitary confinement for YEARS with ZERO due process!! If you give the slightest crap about our Nation, REGARDLESS of your political leanings, this should frighten you to your core. This is what men suffered, bled, fought, and died against 250 years ago!   This has gone FAR BEYOND left vs. right. This is a  threat to America, and our way of life. This is PRECISELY why Trump, a BILLIONAIRE who could have chosen to take Melania and sit on some tropical island that he could afford to buy himself and RELAX, instead chose to run for office, get hate from literally every corner of the media, get ATTEMPTS on his LIFE constantly, and begin to repair some of the severe damage that's been done to this Great Nation.   I don't know why I bother wasting my precious time here. Everyone has their minds made up. They won't realize we all were correct until it's too late ... after they elect another tyrant that hates America to office (Obama), or another puppet whose administration is secretly running the show behind the scenes (Biden).
    • Hello, Im in a bit of a bind maybe someone could help me out.  We towed our trailer, up a pretty steep incline (395 north of Bishop) done it before no issues. I got to our campground turn truck off, i restarted the truck about an hour later  and check engine light turns on. Found DTC P2C48,  unable to reset.  This morning i removed the plug, there's 12.12v at the plug. Reservoir near firewall is full of coolant, checked for leaks nothing. I dont hear or feel the pump turning on. My dilemma, is nearest dealer  is 4hrs away that has the pump instock. Is it safe to drive? By me checking the available voltage at the connector and not hearing/feeling pump turn on, is it a bad pump? Please help...
