6.2 fuel milage?

How are yall getting 17-18 in the city. I average 13-14 when I am heavy on the pedal and 14-15 when I am babying the pedal. Driving around town is about 95% while 5% is freeway. When i took a 1000 mile road trip, I did get about 21 mpg.

What rears do you have???

I can pull 16-17mph towing my 3500lb. work trailer around suburbia without babying her. 5.3 though.

I have a 17.7 mpg average over the course of 64000 miles in my 15 6.2. Houston traffic is 90% of the mileage.

I have a 16 Escalade with the 6.2 and on average I get 24 highway (best 29 MPG on 50 miles) and I usually get 18-20 MPG in the city. It all depends on how deep your foot is in the pedal. These trucks can get great MPG's if you feather the throttle but if you are romping on it you might see 15 ish averages.

It doesn't sound like the hills are killing your mileage on that 2011..... You are doing much better than most people I know with that year 6.2.

My 2011 has a 5.3. I'm a very concertive driver and I rarely speed or romp on it. Pulling my camper has brought down the life MPG some as well as 10 to 15 min warm ups in the winter.

My 16 Sierra Denali Ultimate 6.2L is getting an average of 17.2 mpg currently at 26,000 miles (several trips towing 6,000 # trailer in that). My best 400 mile average without wind and no trailer is 23.1 mpg speeds between 70 and 80. Normally be 20 to 22 at 70 due to hills in my area. I am super pleased... My 2008 SD 6.2L averaged 19 Hwy and closer to 15 in mixed traffic. I don't have a tune but have added AFE Momentum Gt cold air intake along with a a Magnaflow 12909 muffler (removed the flapper, resonator and stock muffler).

Thinking about getting a 1500 with the 6.2 engine and I was wondering what you guys are getting for fuel milage. My 2011 is averaging 14 for the life of the truck. I can get up to 22 mpg on trips but around here the hills kill my mileage.

Have a 2017 GMC Denali with a 6.2 with the 8-speed and I'm averaging 20.8 miles per gallon of the last 8000 miles. I do a lot of highway driving with some in town.

My actual economy is about 1.5 mpg shy of what the onboard computer tells me. '17 Denali ccsb, stock with a Peragon cover. 99% highway @70mph. Maybe 5% of that with a 8,000# trailer. I romp on it a little as I'm enjoying driving something with power for a change [emoji4] I live in the Midwest at 3,300' above sea level which makes a difference too I'm sure.

Best reading was about 25 mpg US/ 30 mpg CDN on a 250 mile trip. Average over 7500 miles is 20.5. All numbers are hand calculated. I use the Road Trip app on my iphone.

Lifetime average after 42,000 miles; 19.6 mpg. and that includes wintertime use of AUTO 4WD.

100% stock, no oversize tires, no modified exhaust, no cold air intake or performance air filter, AFM active, nothing but a stock truck...driven mostly rural, no hot-rodding, never drive over 65mph (2-lane blacktop predominant here).

The only thing I have done, and I do this with every new vehicle is change out all the OEM fluids to 100% synthetic (AMSOIL) early on. I know it helps a great deal in the cold weather.

There is no freaking way you guys are getting 17+ in stop and go (city) traffic. No way. I don't know what you guys consider city, but I couldn't do that unless I just rolled through stop signs. I'm assuming that's more like "mixed" and not really "city"

city traffic is stop lights or stop signs every 1/4 mile or so, and low speeds, like 25-35mph. There is no way to get 17mpg when you're constantly braking and accelerating. The truck weighs 5500lb. I don't care if you did a 1.6L honda civic swap, it takes so much fuel to get 5500lbs to accelerate. That's why nearly every 1/2 ton truck out there gets crap for city traffic and basically the only way they can show their efficiency is cruising, and gm did an incredible job with that. So if your getting 17, I'm pretty sure it's 12-13 mpg with a bunch of 22-24mpg stretches mixed in. I just don't want someone interested in the truck to be confused of real world fuel costs.
