Hello all,

I agree with the above post, if the Denali didn’t look how it did I would have torched it by now.

3 dealership visits and 5 trips later with a total of 3 months out of 7 months ownership it was in the shop.

Truck is a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali with 28k. Had a loud creaking from the front end when I turned slowly and after the last trip to the dealership they diagnosed it as bad front end hubs. After waiting 2 months I got the truck back. Seems to be holding up for now but I still have a creak from the front when I apply brake pressure at slower speeds.

buy Ford.

All manufacturers have issues with vehicle(s) they build. The problems are, most owner does not maintain their vehicle. They assumed that it will last forever like a false promise. Promises are meant to be broken. They drive like they stole it, guess what? It will catch up. Your vehicle will threat you like how you treat your vehicle. If you really want to blame someone, blame public school, I remember a time when auto mechanic used to be an option for those wishing to learn basic maintenance. Some school don't even offer as an option anymore,  instead it's been replaced by boynicure. It's more important to make sure boys fingernails are beautiful and colorful.

Oh yeah, don't have sex in your vehicle because it will break down afterwards.

Excellent contribution to the topic at hand. Bravo.

Pull your tires off and look at your brake pads.  These were my front right pads on my '15, a couple months prior to the head-on collision.  I didn't hear anything from them, until a few days before I replaced them, BUT I had it in for service a week or two prior and the service tech said that they were "wearing oddly."  So I ordered new ones, and my son and I changed them out.  Upper pad is the outboard pad.

Did anyone ever resolve this? I have a creaking noise from the drivers rear brakes when applying the pedal. It happens while parked and is consistent with pedal application. I doubt it's pad related since the creak occurs when the vehicle isn't moving.

The GM repair guide does not note anything about caliper guide pins requiring lube and pistons are lubricated with the brake fluid. I'm interested to hear if others with the creak found a fix.

I have the same issue.  It’s not the brake pads or rotors, as they have all been replaced and turned.  It is only when I am parked and apply pressure to the brake pedal.  Could it be related to the brake booster recall issue?  They expanded that, at one point.  It’s for the braking assist system.

I have the same problem on my 2016 silverado 1500. As i step on the brakes i hear a clicking sound, sounds like a spring stretching and unstreching. I took it to the dealership for inspection and the told me that it was my rear calipers that are making the noise and that it is somewhat common. Thats bs that should be a recall. I have new brakes pads and rotors and still have the noise. I am going to have to replace the rear calipers hopefully it resolves the issue.

I've experienced creaky brakes before on a different truck. Cleaning/removal of brake's & dust seem's to have prevented it from happening on my current truck.

I have a 2019 Silverado Legacy 1500 model. Mine has the creaking brake sound coming from the rear brakes whilst depressing the brake pedal on & off while in park or at very low speeds, etc.

I took mine to the dealer in 2022, and they said “Oh that sound, that happens on all of the Silverados, it’s normal.”  They did say they would go ahead and clean/lube up the rear brakes for me. When I got the truck back the sound was still there - so that did absolutely nothing. I’ve decided to just live with it since it’s not dangerous.

However, there is no reason a $50k truck should sound like this. When people ride with me they think my brakes are shot out.

We found this creaking to be caused by the anti-rattle shield that is riveted to the back of the brake pad. Ours was loose, so we carefully placed a few drops of air-tool oil between the pad and shield. We allowed some time for the pull to penetrate before replacing the pads and caliper. We stopped hearing the creaking after.

Please note; we originally thought this problem was caused by the caliper slider pins or where the piston meets the break pad. We lubed these up but still hard the creaking. We found this forum and all of you saying the problem was with the pads and, once replaced, the problem fixed. That's how we knew to look closer at the pad itself. So, a big thank you to you all!

Creaking from rear brakes very common. Caused by slide pins binding and/or factory brake clips (hardware) get very rusty. Clean and regrease slide pins, replaces clips with stainless steel ones.
